Which club will rule Africa?

An Enyimba player in action
Enyimba are bidding to become the first Nigerian side to win the Champions League

Got an opinion? Express it here. Each week we throw up a different subject to let followers of African football have their say. Some of your views will be read on Fast Track - the BBC's African sports programme.

There are just two teams who can be crowned the best club in Africa for 2003 - Nigeria's Enyimba or Egypt's Ismaili.

Enyimba are the first Nigerian side to reach the final of the Champions League while Ismaili are trying to bring the the trophy back to Egypt for a third consecutive year.

Enyimba won the first leg of the final 2-0 at home in Nigeria, thus leaving Ismaili with plenty to do if they are to overturn this two-goal deficit.

So can Enyimba maintain this advantage and thus become a Nigerian club that finally emulates the success of its national side?

Or do you think Ismaili will strike back to reassert Egypt's recent domination of the Champions League?

No matter how controversial your views might be, use the form on the right to have your say.

With a 2-0 home win, Enyimba will go to Egypt with a view to attack not to defend. They will have scored at least once before Ismaili score three goals, so I see Enyimba winning the Champions League for Nigeria for the first time.
Christopher Ibeh, Lagos, Nigeria

Enyimba take a 2-0 lead to Egypt, and at this level of competition it is not always easy to recover from a two-goal deficit to win a cup. Ismaili face an uphill task so as things stand, Enyimba are favourites to lift the Champions League trophy for Nigeria for the first time.
Brighton Mupangavanhu, South Africa

Ismaili will win the trophy - thus achieving a third consecutive win for Egypt in the Champions League.
Yasser Ezzat, Egypt

They may not be the better side but I think Enyimba will make history for Nigeria.
Sopeju Olusegun, Nigeria

It's high time a Nigerian club ruled the continent. Success is coming Enyimba's way with a narrow win - and all they need to do is score an away goal.
Emmanuel Agosu, New Jersey, USA

I think Ismaili will carry the day. They not only play mature football but will also have an upper hand in the return leg.
Maseme Machuka, Kampala

The final of a championship is very different from the preliminary, so those writing Enyimba off because they lost to Ismaili in the group stages do not follow soccer. It is the better prepared team on the night that carries the day. Enyimba is mentally and physically prepared to lift this year's Champions League.
Henry Christopher, Abuja, Nigeria

I believe Enyimba will win because they have thus far shown the necessary hunger and zeal - but I was disappointed with the 2-0 first leg scoreline.
Cheta Nwanze, Benin City, Nigeria

Enyimba will win the cup only as long as they go to Egypt to play attacking football. If they go to defend their two-goal lead, they should kiss the cup goodbye.
Ochuko, Toronto, Canada

I don't see Ismaili winning this cup because having lost 2-0 to Enyimba in the first leg, they will be under pressure to score goals - thus giving the Aba boys the chance to kill the game on the counter-attack.
Ike Matthew, Lagos

I have rarely seen a local Nigerian team as organised as Enyimba. I tip them to win not as a Nigerian but as a lover of good football. Ismaili hardly attacked and that is not the stuff of champions.
Imeh Junior, Lagos

Winning the Champions League has become a tradition for the north Africans because their league is well-organised and well-funded. They also have good players but not withstanding that, I am very confident that Enyimba will win the cup because they are a very determined side and have been given all the necessary support they need by the state governor of Aba state. The one thing they must do is win the cup to compensate the governor for his finance and good administration for the team.
Ogechi Barrah, United States of America

Enyimba of Nigeria will lift the cup. Having won 2-0, they are favourites to win and having scored in all their matches, they will also score goals in Ismaili.
Monday, Nigeria

Enyimba have drawn the first blood, but whether they can win the second leg is another story. I don't see the cup leaving Cairo, Ismaili will do anything to win so I foresee an Egyptian treble.
Nii Otu Okunor, Accra, Ghana

I said if Enyimba won the first leg, they would become champions: the first leg has been won so the rest is just a formality!
Boma, Mexico city

Enyimba have what it takes to rule Africa. Peopled with the best pair of legs in the Nigerian league, they can break the Champions League jinx once and for all. The title is not the preserve of the North Africans, although I have a lot of respect for teams from that region. All that Enyimba needs to do is to get a convincing win in their home tie and the second leg will be an easy affair.
Ezeobi Obinna, Lagos, Nigeria

Enyimba is a strong side but often show signs of inconsistency. But it is their unpredictability that will make them a very tough opponent for Ismaili to defeat.
Saheed Lasisi, Lagos, Nigeria

The odds favours Ismaili, as I think that they will play under less pressure and have good team spirit.
Sameul Mwalili, Belgium

Enyimba can win the Cup if they do the right things. They must avoid distractions like Uzor Orji Kalu (the governor of Nigeria's Abia state) and national coach Christian Chukwu sitting on the bench and directing team affairs, which should be left to coach Kadiri Ikhana.
Emeka Nwani, Nigeria

I think Ismaili, with their creative style of play, are best placed to win the trophy. Don't forget Ismaili beat Enyimba 6-1 during the group stage. I hope we'll see an entertaining match, which reflects the high standard that African football has attained.
Hany El'Sadre, Perth, Western Australia

Ismaili are a good side but Enyimba is showing more will. The Aba Boys will lift the trophy.
Chidi Nwamadi, Toulouse, France.

After thrashing a big team like Esperance at home, nothing will stop Ismaili from winning this championship!
Mohamed Hossien, UAE

With Ismaili having the decisive second leg at home, they have the edge. It is high time that Caf changed this format and have a one-game winner-takes-all final on neutral ground.
Bright C. Ukandu, USA

With all respect to Enyimba and Nigerian football, Ismaili will pick up the trophy easily. Ismaili is by far the best team in Africa this year.
Tarek Othman, Toronto, Canada

Egypt's domination of the Champions League will continue.
Karim, Egypt

It's really hard to predict who will win the trophy because Nigerian teams are simply unpredictable. When you least expect them to fail, they do just that and when you think it's all over for them they surprise you.
William, Nigeria

Ismaili will win the trophy. Their track record is better than that of Enyimba. If the Nigerians win, it will be down to sheer luck.
Angwenyi Kijana, Nyamira, Kenya

Going by statistics and the frequency with which these north African teams have won this trophy, one may not be wrong to tip Ismaili, especially after their 6-1 trouncing of Enyimba during the group phase. However, I see divine luck smiling on Enyimba.
Ekundayo Shittu, Ontario, Canada.

A good performance in the first leg in Aba will go a long way in making Enyimba's dreams come true. I fear that if the side fail to win this year, Nigeria will have to wait another decade to get to this same height.
Oluwashina Okeleji, Nigeria
