Raja celebrate win
Morocco's Raja Casablanca
Moroccan side Raja Casablanca are the last ever Caf Cup winners
Raja Casablanca of Morocco say that controlling the second leg was the key to winning the last ever Caf Cup, after they beat Cameroon's Cotonsport in the two-leg final.

The Moroccans lifted the cup thanks to a 2-0 win at home in the first leg and then a 0-0 draw in Garoua.

The team is still celebrating the historic win and president Adelslam Hamat has praised his side for the way they played the second leg.

"Our boys managed the game well, we knew that we did not need to push too hard to maintain our lead.

"We were wary of Cotonsport and felt that they were capable of coming back," Hamat said.

He was also full of praise for the Cotonsport side.

"They are a great team and as they gain in experience they will get even better."

The God of soccer was against us
Cotonsport's Isaac Ngaima

Raja's Nigerian striker Moussa Suleiman admitted it hadn't been easy.

"We had to work very hard for this win, but I am very very happy to lift the trophy," he said.

Meanwhile Cotonsport's players were philosophical about their defeat.

"We tried our level best, we even had some opportunities to score, but it wasn't enough," Liberian Robert Sesay said after the match.

"When you lose out on a trophy you always feel bad but it's not the end of football," Isaac Ngaima added.

"The God of soccer was against us today, we tried very hard and have to look at second place as some sort of compensation," he concluded.

This was the last ever Caf Cup as next year it will be combined with the African Cup Winners' Cup into a new event, the Confederation Cup, with the promise of prize money and greater TV exposure.
