Oliech started on the bench again for Kenya on Saturday |
Striker Dennis Oliech has declared his unhappiness with the role he has been given in the Kenyan national team. The 18-year-old forward says coach Jacob Mulee's policy of starting him on the bench has denied him the opportunity to prove his goalscoring potential for the Harambee Stars.
"I am unhappy because the coach has been giving me 35-45 minutes on the pitch, which means he has not accepted me as his main striker," Oliech complained to the BBC Sport website.
"This does not give me enough scoring chances but I believe I am ripe enough to play for 90 minutes."
Oliech, who scored three goals during Kenya's successful qualifying campaign for Tunisia 2004, insists Mulee should give him a starting role.
In Saturday's 2006 Nations Cup and World Cup qualifier against Tanzania, the 18-year-old forward only came on as a second half substitute.
French move
The Qatar-based Oliech, who plays alongside Gabriel Batistuta at Al Arabi, said he has finalised a deal to join French side Olympique Marseille at the end of the year.
The 18-year-old said his contract with Al Arabi expired this month and that he would join the former European champions after sitting his last set of school examinations in Kenya next month.
"I underwent two-week trials in Marseille in June and they agreed to take me," the Kenyan said.
"But my agent agreed a deal with the club that I should play in Qatar for two months before joining them.
"I expect to travel to Marseille after doing my examinations on 20 November."
