Giresse is a former coach of Toulouse in La Championnat |
Former France international Alain Giresse is in talks to become the new coach of DR Congo. Officials at the DR Congo FA are seeking a coach for the 2004 African Nations Cup finals - for which the Simba qualified earlier this year - after Joseph Mukeba quit to manage South African club Zulu Royals.
FA president Omari Selemani confirmed that negotiations were ongoing, with terms and conditions of Giresse's contract still requiring final confirmation.
Giresse has coached in Africa before - his last post was with Moroccan club Royal Armed Forces, but he left them in June after an unsuccessful season.
Most of his coaching career was spent with Toulouse in France's Championnat - he has had two separate spells with the club.
DR Congo have been drawn alongside hosts Tunisia, Guinea and Rwanda in Group A at the Nations Cup finals, which start in January.
