 Wamalwa died on Saturday |
The Kenyan Football Federation (KFF) has postponed the start of the new league season, following the death of the country's vice-president Michael Kijana Wamalwa. Wamalwa, who had been ill for several months, passed away in a London hospital on Saturday.
Other pre-season competitions and friendly matches have also been suspended for two weeks.
The Premier League was due to commence on 6 September, with Nzoia Sugar as defending champions.
No new date has been fixed by the KFF for the commencement of the league.
Wamalwa, described in a KFF statement as an 'accomplished footballer' in his youth, will be given a state funeral in September.
