Robson has failed to reach NFA officials |
Former England captain Bryan Robson is still waiting to receive official confirmation of his appointment as Nigeria's new manager.
Nigeria Football Association (NFA) chairman Ibrahim Galadima told the BBC Sport website on Wednesday that Robson will be tasked with leading the Super Eagles to the 2004 Nations Cup finals in Tunisia.
But the former manager of English Premiership club Middlesbrough said he has been unable to get in touch with the NFA officials that interviewed him in London for the job.
"I have put calls through to the people that talked to me about this job but I am yet to get any replies to the messages I have left for them," Robson told the BBC Sport website on Friday.
Meanwhile, a member of the NFA's technical committee - which was given the task of finding a foreign coach for the national team - has expressed his reservations about the decision to appoint Robson.
"I'm not comfortable with the choice to appoint him," said Godwin Dudu-Orumen from Nigeria's commercial capital Lagos.
"If he could not perform well at Middlesbrough, where he had a lot of money and facilities at his disposal, I don't know if he will be able to cope with the peculiarities of working in a tough environment like Nigeria."
Nigeria, who are grouped with South Africa, Morocco and Benin at the Nations Cup finals, will not conclude their training plans for the tournament until the new manager reports for duty at the NFA's headquarters in Abuja.
