Nouzaret's team failed to qualify for the Nations Cup |
Robert Nouzaret, the French technical director of Ivory Coast, has announced his programme for the senior and youth national teams. It includes friendlies, seeking local talent for the junior sides and formulating a seven-year plan for the country, which failed to qualify for the 2004 Nations Cup finals in Tunisia.
Exempted from the preliminary round of the 2006 Nations and World Cup qualifying campaign, the Elephants will play French club Nantes on 10 October to prepare for the group phase.
In November, they face Senegal and play Qatar in the new year. A home and away friendly tie with Guinea is also planned.
Preparatory games against Senegal, Egypt and Qatar have also been scheduled for the under-23 and under-20 sides.
The under-23 will face DR Congo, Cameroon and Mali in the final phase of 2004 Olympic qualifiers, while the under-20 side are one of Africa's representatives at the World Youth Championships in the United Arab Emirates.
Ivory Coast will face Saudi Arabia, Mexico and the Republic of Ireland at the tournament, which will be played between 27 November and 19 December.
