Bolton want 100 percent from Okocha |
Nigeria star Jay-Jay Okocha is under pressure to cut back on his international commitments from his English Premiership club Bolton. Okocha will represent his country in a friendly against Venezuela at Watford on Saturday, forcing him to miss the start of his club's pre-season trip to Malta.
That has irritated Bolton manager Sam Allardyce, who is incensed that the Nigerian football authorities have arranged a friendly in the middle of pre-season training.
Allardyce fumed: "We get a fax saying Jay-Jay has got to turn up here and go and play there.
"One match in the United States against Ecuador was re-arranged after it was postponed. Then all of a sudden it gets cancelled again." Okocha will join his Bolton team mates in Malta after the friendly against the South Americans.

But relations between Okocha and his employers are bound to get worse as Nigeria have also arranged a round of friendlies in the coming months.
Okocha is expected to play a vital role as Nigeria attempt to win their third African title in Tunisia, but Allardyce insists he still wants to see a better return on his investment in the Nigerian star.
"He gets paid very, very well. The Premiership is the place to make his name, not the international stage," said Allardyce.
"There is a massive problem coming up with the African Nations Cup in January.
"We can ill-afford to lose one of our top players for such a long period but that might well be the case.
"Jay-Jay needs to be strong and determined and tell them again his career lies here more than there."
