Senegal Asia bound
Senegal coach Guy Stephan
Stephan is taking no chances
Senegal will return to the scene of their greatest triumph when they travel to Asia in September for friendlies with Japan and South Korea.

The Senegalese reached the quarter-finals of the last World Cup co-staged by the two Asian nations, and they defeated the former holders France 1-0 in the opening game.

Japan will be Senegal's first opponent in Niigata on 10 September, four days after a proposed friendly with South Korea which has not yet been confirmed.

Senegal became only the second African country to reach the last eight of a World Cup finals, where they lost to Turkey in the quarter-finals through an extra-time golden goal.

Senegal's French coach Guy Stephan is busy preparing for the Nations Cup with plans for further friendlies in October, November and early in January.

Stephan and football federation officials will meet with the squad, almost all of whom are based in Europe, for a meeting in Paris on 18 August to discuss the preparation programme.
