The El Menzah Stadium will be a main Nations Cup venue |
The Confederation of African Football has announced that it will inspect facilities for next year's Nations Cup tournament in Tunisia in September. A Caf delegation headed by the organisation's president Issa Hayatou will visit all the venues designated by the Tunisian organisers.
Six stadia in five cities will be looked at from 16 September. The inspection will end five days later on 20 September with the draw for the 16 finalists countries.
There are two grounds in the capital, Tunis, these being the newly-built Rades Olympic, and the El Menzah Stadium, which was used for the 1994 Nations Cup finals. Construction of the Rades Olympic was completed in 2001.
Sousse, one of the venues used when Tunisia last staged the tournament nine years ago, will also be utilised for next year's finals.
Bizerte and Sfax were venues for the 1965 Nations Cup, while Monastir will be used for the first time.
Tunisia were apparently chosen for the 2004 finals because of a majority of its facilities were thought to be in place.
Five cities were used at the last Nations Cup in Mali.
Next year's finals will take place between 24 January to 14 February.
