Moroccan international Jamal Alioui has joined Italian Serie A club Perugia from French champions Olympique Lyon. The 21-year-old defender signed a four-year contract and has joined the club for pre-season training.
Alioui is the second African to join Perugia, after Al Saadi Gaddafi, the son of the Libyan leader, signed a one-year deal earlier this month.
Meanwhile, three North Africans have been appointed to assist Phillipe Troussier in his new job as Qatar coach.
The French coach has picked Moroccan Mohamed Hajam and Hatem Soussi from Tunisia as his assistants.
Said Badou, also from Morocco, will be Qatar's goalkeeper trainer.
Troussier's decision to work with African coaches is attributed to his long spell with national teams in the continent.
He managed the national teams of the Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and South Africa.
Troussier, who signed a three-year contract with the Qataris, is expected to lead them to the 2006 World Cup finals.
