Bucker returns for a second Egyptian spell |
Egyptian club Ismailia named German Theo Bucker as the coach who will lead them through the Champions League campaign.
It is Bucker's second spell with an Egyptian side. He managed Ittihad four years ago.
A former player for Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, Bucker also had coaching stints in Kuwait and Lebanon.
The German received a $20,000 signing-on fee from Ismailia and will be paid a monthly salary of $8,000.
He is expected to resume work next week.
"[Bucker] has experience with Egyptian clubs and we are sure that he is the right man for the job," said club president Ismail Osman.
"Our fans are enthusiastic about our participation in the Champions League and we hope to reach their expectations."
Bucker said winning Africa's most prestigious club competition would require a lot of effort from the players and officials of his new team.
"it is a huge challenge [to win the Champions League] but if the players have got the ambition and drive, we will be able to achieve it."
Ismailia are drawn in Group A, along with ASEC Mimosa from Ivory Coast, Simba FC of Tanzania and Nigeria's Enyimba.
