Seychelles 0-2 Mali Toure scored Mali's second goal |
Mali booked their place in the Nations Cup finals with a convincing away victory over a plucky Seychelles. The Malians' 2-0 triumph saw them maintain a superior goal difference over Zimbabwe, whose 2-0 victory over Eritrea was not sufficient to grab top spot in Group 6.
Technically superior and largely dominant, Mali had Seydou Keita to thank for an impressive performance in midfield.
Keita set up both goals, crossing for Sammy Traore to head home in the 69th minute and then unlocking the Seychelles defence for Bassala Toure to make the easiest of tap-ins.
Nelson Fopha produced a string of impressive saves for the home side, which kept the score within respectable margins.
The Malians' joy at qualifying for Tunisia was clearly apparent, as the players danced on the pitch with their very pleased sports minister.
