Madagascar 0-2 Mauritius Madagascar lost at home |
Madagascar's home defeat to Mauritius saw Egypt qualify for their 11th African Nations Cup finals in succession. Seeking a 17-goal winning margin to claim their own place in Tunisia, Madagascar were stunned by two early goals from the visitors and never recovered.
Mauritius took the lead after a quarter of an hour when Christopher Perle scored from close range.
The goal came against the run of play.
Madagascar found themselves 2-0 down in the 30th minute, after their goalkeeper brought a Mauritian striker down in the box.
Georges Appou made no mistake from the resulting penalty kick.
The home crowd were infuriated by their team's display, with many leaving the ground before the final whistle.
While Egypt can celebrate their qualification, the Mauritians are celebrating their first goals and points of the campaign.
