Blatter to pay his respects to Foe |
Fifa president Joseph Blatter has announced he will attend the funeral of Marc-Vivien Foe in Cameroon. The late midfielder will be buried on 12 July in Yaounde.
Foe collapsed unchallenged in the 72nd minute of the Confederations Cup semi-final against Colombia and never regained consciousness.
Blatter will also attend a memorial service for the player in Lyon's St. Jean Cathedral on Thursday.
The Fifa president said he wants to extend his personal condolences to Foe's family and the Cameroon national team.
Many, including football legend Pele, criticised Blatter for allowing the Confederations Cup to continue after Foe's tragic death.
Cameroon were the runners-up at the Confederations Cup final, losing 1-0 to France.
