Asante Kotoko will be serious contenders |
The start of the new season in Ghana is threatened by a second postponement as a result of an internal club dispute.
Two parties are fighting for control of Premier league side Brong Ahafo.
Former national star George Arthur, now running Brong Ahafo's affairs, has been challenged by a former club chairman as being unfit for the position.
Sylvester Mensah, chairman of the 16 team professional league board, told BBC Sport that the dispute will not halt the start of the league.
''We are trying to resolve the matter. But whatever the case, the league cannot be put on hold again."
Meanwhile, local pharmarceutical firm Kinapharma has concluded a $120,000 deal with the FA to sponsor the league.
With the league commencing a day after the second anniversary of the 9 May Accra stadium disaster, there seems to be no clear favourite for this year's title.
Defending champions Hearts of Oak faces a stiff challenge from Kumasi rivals Asante Kotoko, under a new management team following the dismissal of chief executive Herbert Mensah.
Mensah is now with King Faisal, another Kumasi based side.
Outsiders Obuasi Goldfields, the 1997 Caf Champions League silver medalists, is being run by a local management team, after Ajax Amsterdam gave up their controlling shares in the club.
The new season will mark the 10th year of professional football in the country.
