Angola did poorly in the Cosafa Cup |
Ismael Kurtz will stay on as coach of Angola.
Reuters News Agency had quoted the Angolan Football Federation secretary-general Delcio Costa on Wednesday as confirming the dismissal of the Brazilian trainer.
The report said Kurtz's contract was terminated after their poor showing in the Cosafa Castle Cup.
But Angop, the official news agency of Angola, reported that the coach will stay on after an emergency meeting with the federation.
BBC Sport's reporter in Luanda has also confirmed the report to keep Kurtz in charge.
The Palancas Negras are yet to win a competitive game since the Brazilian joined them a year ago.
They have won a friendly against Gabon, drawn three and lost three of six competitive matches.
Kurtz will remain in charge for Angola's two remaining African Nations Cup qualifiers in June.
They face Nigeria and Malawi, but only have a slim chance of qualifying for the 2004 finals in Tunisia.
