Liberia 1-0 Ethiopia Liberia are guaranteed a chance of qualifying come the final matches |
Liberia beat Ethiopia 1-0 to set up a potentially breathtaking climax to Group 2. Steven Mennoh's strike from 25 yards out in the 57th minute was enough to settle a dull encounter in Monrovia.
However, in a match delayed by 24 hours and moved to a different stadium due to the political situation in the country, a win by any means came as welcome relief for the Lone Star.
A crowd of 14,000 - many more than was anticipated - saw the game, which sets up an intreguing situation in Group 2.
All four teams are now tied on six points, with only goal difference seperating top-placed Guinea from bottom-placed Liberia.
At the very least this means the group will go down with the last games.
