Mido (in blue) is injured |
Injury has kept striker Ahmed Mido Hossam out of the Egyptian squad for the two remaining Nations Cup qualfying games against Mauritius and Madagascar.
Egypt coach Mohsen Saleh did not hide his disappointment about the setback.
"It is a huge blow for us.
"Mido would have been the right man for the job."
Team captain Hany Ramzy is also excluded from the squad as a result of injury.
The Kaiserslautern defender has not recovered from a knee problem.
Meanwhile, Ahly goalkeeper Essam El Hadary, criticised after Egypt's 0-5 loss to France in April, has been replaced by Nader El Sayed.
