The results are in after a vital round of Nations Cup qualifying. How did your team get on?
Nigeria got back on track with a 1-0 win over Malawi in Blantyre. But is this result enough to answer their critics. Should Egypt be pleased with their 1-0 victory over minnows Mauritius?
And what of Senegal and Morocco? Both were held to 0-0 draws against much lowlier opposition.
Have your say using the form on the right
My country Tanzania is almost out. This is due to mismanagement and the highly corrupt administration of soccer here in Tanzania. Our players also lack the technical know-how to play the game.
Innocent Kessy, Tanzania
The Nigerian team was really impressive and Malawians should thank the trio of Aiyegbeni, Utaka and Chukwudi for being wasteful on a day they could have roasted them 6 goals to nothing.
Michael Olukuewu, Lagos
Can someone enlighten us about the reasons that some incidents warrant direct free-kicks and others indirect? On the issue at hand, I have seen the replay of the Okocha's goal again and again and I ask the question, the referee blew his whistle, his hand was not raised, so what stops that beautiful free-kick from being a goal?
Louis Ndimele, Nigeria
I want to say that the Lions of Senegal were just lucky. When the they meet again in Dakar, The Scorpions will sting harder.
Demba Ceesay, Gambia/UK
Senegal's tie with Gambia is a shocker ! Were they just a one hit wonder ?
Willz Odipo, Kenya
First Steve Tikolo's boys did wonders at the Cricket World Cup. Now the Harambee Stars are well on their way (with a 100% record) to the Nations Cup in Tunisia.

What a year this is turning out to be for the Kenyans!
Yogi Savania, Kenya/Australia The balance of power appears to be turning the corner, or is it the new qualifying system? Imagine this real possible scenario; South Africa, Morocco, Senegal, Egypt and DRC not in the next championships. The big guns no longer have things all to themselves today. If Egypt expect Madagascar to roll over and be trampled, likewise Sierra Leone to Morocco, think hard. The small nations are fast catching up.

I want the Liberian people to know that it is never good to be ungrateful to anyone that brought you to the light. We the Liberians did just that to George Weah and his colleagues. Until we go back to George and apologize, we may find it difficult if not impossible to ever qualify for any major tournament anywhere.
Tamba-Tamba, Liberia
The Harambee Stars pumped goals into Mauritania. This is encouraging to their fans who had started losing confidence in the team. W now wait for the next hurdle.
Melvyn Amulyoto, Nairobi
I would like to congratulate the scorpions of the Gambia who held the World Cup quarter-finalists for a full 90 minutes.
This should be included in the Guiness Books of Records. |
Let the world watch out! The Scorpions have done something unforgetable. This should be included in the Guiness Books of Records.
Jim Jobe, Gambia I want to congratulate our players for the result in Freetown. I know the return match when Kallon and Paul Kpaka will be fit is going to be a tough encounter in Rabat. I hope we win and qualify for Tunis.
Benjmain Palmer, Germany
Can you imagine Morocco tying with Sierra Leone? What has happend to the Atlas Lions? Once the pride of Africa, now just another weak African football squad. Remember in '98 when they played so well in France? Now they can't even beat Sierra Leone.
Stephen, Canada
The big boys - countries like Nigeria, Egypt, Cameron, Senegal - still control the block |
Congrats Sierra Leone! Now if we could get our first choice strikers fit and ready together with the rest of the squad, we might just finish top of our group ahead of Morocco. Nonetheless, for Sierra Leone to beat Morocco away is going to be titanic in all symbolism. A draw might not be enough for the Leone Stars.
Addict, NC, USA Like the wise guys always say - forget about it! Newcomers like Benin, Gambia, Mauritius, etc keep dreaming. The big boys - countries like Nigeria, Egypt, Cameron, Senegal - still control the block.

Kenya are now in pole position to make it to Tunisia. A convincing 4-0 drubbing of Mauritania sends a warning signal to the rest of Africa. Togo's 2-1 loss to Cape Verde has simply helped Kenya's course, who sit comfortably on top of Group 5. For once East Africa will have a representative in the Nations Cup. Go Kenya!

Nigeria should be giving the cup without a match being played |
Malawi played as underdogs, but once again they are proving they are a force to reckon in African football. Come the next two games they will continue where they stopped on Saturday against Angola.
Alex Siyasiya, Blantyre, Malawi I was impressed with the Nigerian team and I was always confident that they were going to succeed. Can someone please tell me why Okocha's goal was disallowed? The rest of Africa should be beware - the sleeping giant is waking...
Kialee Gbosi, Port Harcourt, Nigeria
Nigeria should be giving the cup without a match being played. I feel it's a waste of energy - this new Nigerian team cannot be beaten by any African team!
Charles Dickings, Sweden and London
Way to go Zambia! Watch out Africa, this new Zambian team is growing in confidence and it's only a matter of time before we are once again one of the best in the continent. Beware, here come the Chipolopolo boys!
Binish Patel, US/Zambia
It is good for me to hear that Nigeria defeated Malawi, but I am wearied about the usual Nigerian complacency. Anyway, the boys are right to rejoice over a job well done. In football of this nature, what matters most is the three points at the end, and we did get it. Bravo Chukwu and the lads!
Chidi Nwamadi, Jerusalem, Israel
Congrats Kenya. Tunisia 2004 here we come after a long spell. This time not as the usual whipping boys. Don't say you weren't warned!
