Group summary
After both Morocco and Sierra Leone won their opening matches, it became clear that the outcome of this group would be decided by the head-to-head clashes between the two sides. The fact that the North Africans took four points off their West African rivals explains why they ultimately won the group.
Not even a new coach from Brazil, Jose Nogueira, could take the Leone Stars to their first Nations Cup finals since 1996. Gabon and Equatorial Guinea were never in with a chance.
