By Chris Bevan BBC Sport
2238: Right, time for me to call it a night. The inquest into the state of Scottish football will rumble on and on (and on) but, for Fulham, Tottenham, Birmingham, Stoke and Shamrock Rovers, the draw for the Europa League group stages takes place at 1200 BST on Friday. Join Sam Lyon for the weekend Premier League action. I've been Chris Bevan and I'll see you very soon. Cheerio.
And more from Redknapp, this time on potential signings: "The chairman's on a couple of transfers at the moment. There's one or two in the pipeline, but we don't need to bring them in by the lorryload here, we've got good players."
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp on his side's draw with Hearts: "They [the youngsters] all did well - and this will only improve them. This is a big stage for them, a massive step up, but it can only do them good. As for what my team will be in this competition going forward, well you've got to be careful, you've got to juggle your squad. I'll play the kids at times, but when there are vital games you want to win and keep progressing. It's a balancing act."
2233: Er, wow! I've just seen Pat Sullivan's goal for Shamrock Rovers tonight... a sweetly struck volley from at least 30 yards out that flies into the far corner of the net. A special goal on a special night for the Irish side.
FULL-TIME Tottenham 0-0 Hearts (agg 5-0) Sam Lyonreports: "The tie was over long before kick-off - and by the end it showed. Still, a good run-out for the two teams' shadow sides, a sign of selection choices to come in this competition from Spurs, I'll wager."
FULL-TIME Birmingham 3-0 Nacional (agg 3-0) Phil Dawkesreports: "Birmingham ensured they made the most of their home return to Europe by claiming an impressive win over Nacional. They were the better side throughout and may have discovered a star in winger Nathan Redmond."
FULL-TIME Stoke 4-1 FC Thun (agg 5-1) Paul Fletcherreports: "A solid night's work for Stoke, who blew away FC Thun in the first half and clinched a 4-1 win by the final whistle for a 5-1 aggregate victory that sees them through to Friday's draw."
FULL-TIME Rangers 1-1 NK Maribor (agg 2-3) Andy Campbell reports: "Disaster for the Scottish champions. Ally McCoist's side could not find the goal that would have forced extra-time."
FULL-TIME FC Sion 3-1 Celtic (agg 3-1) Annie McGuire reports: "No way back for Celtic from a terrible start: questions will be asked of Neil Lennon after another hapless display. Their European season ends early for a second consecutive season."
FULL-TIME Dnipro 1-0 Fulham (agg 1-3) Marc Higginson reports: "Cottagers' fans will not be rushing to buy the DVD of this one - perhaps as well for Pajtim Kasami after his horrific miss from six yards out. Fulham were second best tonight, but who cares? They are through and that's the main thing."
2227: It's been a night to forget for some, and a pretty decent shift for others. But here's a reminder of how all seven British clubs got on in the Europa League.
2225: Some bad news for Fulham fans. Cottagers boss Martin Jol says defender John Arne Riise will be out for "some time" with a leg injury.
2224: So, all the Scottish sides are out of the Europa League, while all the English sides are in Friday's draw for the group stage. They are joined by Shamrock Rovers, who are the first Irish side to get this far.
2222: Scunthorpe gave it a good go but their wait to beat a top-flight team in the Carling Cup goes on. Mainly because of Newcastle keeper Tim Krul, who made a couple of outstanding saves, but also because of a super strike by Sammy Ameobi.
2219: FULL-TIME Scunthorpe 1-2 Newcastle aet
2217: Scunthorpe throw everyone forward... but Newcastle are dealing with these long balls pretty well.
2215: We are into the last minute of extra-time at Glanford Park. Newcastle have possession and are playing keep-ball... before Tim Krul pumps it upfield. Time for one last Scunthorpe attack?
buttonmoon1979 on Twitter: "Well done Shamrock Rovers, huge night for Irish football. Scottish teams hang your heads."
2112: This has been a rip-roaring Carling Cup tie and there was no way Scunthorpe were going to go quietly. They are currently hoisting balls into the Magpies penalty area so it looks like being a nervous last few minutes for the travelling Newcastle fans.
OptaJoe on Twitter: "1 - Shamrock Rovers are set to become the first Irish team to play a European match in December since Shelbourne in 1964. Heroic."
Newcastle goal: Harsh on Scunthorpe but what a way to win it (if indeed it is the winner) Sammy Ameobi looks up, 25 yards from goal, and slams an unstoppable shot into the corner of the net. Seven minutes of extra-time left for the Iron to try to find a response.
Smythwicks90 on Twitter: "Incredible scenes in Belgrade! what a night for Shamrock Rovers and Irish football!"
OptaJoe on Twitter: "0 - For the first time since European club football began in 1955, there will be no Scottish teams in contention on September 1. Wipeout."
2202: There are no Scottish sides in the Europa League, but there will be one team from the Republic of Ireland in Friday's draw for the group stage. Shamrock Rovers have beaten Partizan Belgrade 2-1 after extra-time in Serbia, for a FAMOUS 3-2 aggregate victory.
2200: This game is starting to open up. The ball drops for Sammy Ameobi in in the box but his first-time shot flies horriby wide. He snatched at that one when he had time to bring it down. Half-time in extra-time at Glanford Park.
2157: Scunthorpe's best chance for a while. Tim Krul comes to Newcastle's rescue, diving to his left to push away a dipping drive from Jimmy Ryan.
2155: Newcastle are still toiling in the Carling Cup against Scunthorpe, although Leon Best would have been in on goal for the Magpies just then if he had been able to control a long ball over the top. He didn't. It's still 1-1, as half-time in extra-time approaches.
2154: It was Stephen Rice who put Shamrock Rovers ahead, from the penalty spot. That would be some result if they can hang on.
2153: Some interesting news from Belgrade. Shamrock Rovers have scored to take a 3-2 aggregate lead with only seven minutes of injury time left.
Shajan Miah's Europa League updates: Turkish club Besiktas, who were hammered 8-0 by Liverpool in a Champions League match in 2007, have lost 2-0 at Russian club Alania Vladikavkaz but still manage to advance into the next round after holding on for a 3-2 win on aggregate.
2149: FULL-TIME Tottenham 0-0 Hearts (agg 5-0)
2148: Speaking of extra-time, Shamrock Rovers and Partizan Belgrade are still level. Penalties are only 15 minutes away.
2147: Extra-time is under way at Glanford Park.
leebaker14 on Twitter: "Looks like starting the season a week early was another inspired decision from the SFA!! Gutted to see them all out."
2144: Things are petering out at White Hart Lane where there is about one minute of the 90 to go. When that one is over, every Scottish club is officially OUT of Europe.
Infostrada Sports on Twitter: "This is 4th time since introduction of group stage in the Uefa Cup/Europa League in 2004 that no Scottish club has qualified for group stage."
2139: The 90+ minutes are up at Glanford Park... and we almost had a memorable finish. Almost. Newcastle keeper Tim Krul came out of his area to punt the ball forward, and it fell for Oliver Norwood who smashed it goalward, just as the whistle blew. It went in, but it won't count. We will have extra-time instead.
2138: FULL-TIME Birmingham 3-0 Nacional (agg 3-0)
2137: News from White Hart Lane and, no, it's not another signing. Tottenham are dominating now, and Hearts are having to defend very deep. I think a clean sheet would mean a lot to the Jambos tonight, though, and they only have to hold out for 10 more minutes.
2135: There will be five minutes of injury time at Glanford Park, where some trickery by Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye gives him a shooting chance, but he fires the ball across the face of goal.
2134: FULL-TIME Stoke 4-1 FC Thun (agg 5-1)
klasing on Twitter: "Whats going on?!? Spurs manage one signing all transfer window then two join while they are playing a match?!?"
EddyViper on Twitter: "Due to kick off times Hearts are last Scottish team in Europe!"
2131: Shamrock Rovers have forced extra-time in Belgrade. What a story that would be if they made it into the group stage.
Birmingham goal: Chris Wood could not stop hitting the woodwork in the first leg, but thankfully he has started hitting the net tonight. Stephen Carr sends him clear and Wood steadies himself before coolly slotting home from inside the box.
2129: GOALFLASH Birmingham 3-0 Nacional (agg 3-0) (Chris Wood)
2128: Newcastle want a penalty when Ryan Taylor is shoved over in the box but the referee is having none of it. Extra-time beckons.
2127: So, what's happening in the Europa League. Celtic and Rangers are out, and Fulham are through. Tottenham are heading into Friday's draw for the group stages at the expense of Hearts and Birmingham and Stoke are both cruising through too. Got all that? Good.
Shajan Miah's Europa League updates: Spanish under-21 star Adrian Lopez scores twice to help Atletico Madrid to a 4-0 away win against Vitoria Guimaraes, ensuring his side cruise into Friday's draw after a 6-0 aggregate victory.
2125: HALF-TIME Dnipro 1-0 Fulham (agg 1-3)
Newcastle goal: We already know Ryan Taylor can take a free-kick after his winner in the north-east derby... and he has just curled home another one to bring the Magpies level.
2124: There was a frantic finish at Ibrox but Rangers could not force another goal. That means Celtic and Rangers are both out of Europe as are Hearts, barring a miracle at White Hart Lane. A night to forget for Scottish football.
2122: Nathan Redmond goes close to adding a third goal for Birmingham but they still look home and dry because Nacional are not offering much.
FC Thun goal: Surely just a consolation but Thun have got a goal back. Andreas Wittwer capitalises when Stoke fail to clear. Nice finish too.
2120: GOALFLASH Stoke 4-1 FC Thun (agg 5-1) (Andreas Wittwer)
2120: FULL-TIME FC Sion 3-1 Celtic (agg 3-1)
2118: Newcastle are pressing hard for an equaliser with 15 minutes left of their Carling Cup tie but it is Scunthorpe who have gone closest to scoring again. Chris Dagnall's shot is clawed away by Tim Krul. Cracking save.
Stoke goal: And there we have it, another goal for Stoke and a second on the night for Kenwyne Jones, who heads home from Tom Soares' cross. They lead 4-0 on the night, 5-0 on aggregate.
2116: Yep, with his side 5-0 up on aggregate and cruising, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp seems to be getting busy in the transfer market. He has signed Spain under-21 attacking midfielder Iago Falque on a season-long loan from Juventus.
2115: In the midst of that flurry of goals in games featuring Scottish sides, I forgot to mention Tottenham and Hearts got the second half started at White Hart Lane. Not much happening on the pitch, but Spurs have just announced they have signed another player...
euanbruce on Twitter: "I'll tell you who's been great tonight, the Hearts fans. Brilliant support."
MarnieQX on Twitter: "Re 2105. Yeah... some revival for Scottish football. We deserve to be out, we don't bring anything to the competition."
2113: GOALFLASH Stoke 4-0 FC Thun (agg 5-0) (Kenwyne Jones)
2112: Stoke, meanwhile, have taken their foot right off the pedal. The Potters have now made three changes since the break. They are cruising to victory. I'm sure the home fans hope all their home European ties are this easy.
FC Sion goal: Uh-oh. Just when we were contemplating a famous Celtic comeback, this happens. Ki Sung-Yueng gives the ball away on the halfway line, allowing Giovanni Sio to sprint in on goal and calmly dink his shot past Fraser Forster.
2109: Fulham's travelling fans have not had much to shout about tonight but Pajtim Kasami has missed a glorious chance to kill the tie off in the Ukraine, blazing over from six yards out from Damien Duff's cross. It might have taken a bobble, but he still should have converted. Red faces all round.
2108: GOALFLASH FC Sion 3-1 Celtic (agg 3-1) (Giovanni Sio)
2107: Less than 10 minutes for the 10 men of Celtic and the 11 men of Rangers to get the goals they need. The clock is ticking...
Shajan Miah's Europa League updates: A remarkable story brewing in Serbia, where Pat Sullivan has just equalised for Dublin side Shamrock Rovers against Patrizan Belgrade. That makes it 1-1 on the night and 2-2 on aggregate as things stand.
Rangers goal: Nikica Jelavic nods down Gregg Wylde's corner and Carlos Bocanegra swivels on the ground to fire into the net. Ally McCoist's side need another goal to force extra-time.
Celtic goal: Neil Lennon's side dead and buried? Not yet, they're not... Charlie Mulgrew drives the ball through the Sion wall from a free kick 20 yards out. If Celtic score another they are through.
2105: 'Scottish football - the revival' starts here!
2104: GOALFLASH Rangers 1-1 NK Maribor (agg 2-3) (Carlos Bocanegra)
2103: GOALFLASH FC Sion 2-1 Celtic (agg 2-1) (Charlie Mulgrew)
2100: Celtic do not look like a team who are about to overturn a two-goal deficit. No chances to tell you about, although they are managing some decent possession in the FC Sion half.
From anonymous Fulham fan, via text: "I assume that George in Tooting thinks Jol has been given a Wengeresque transfer kitty and is refusing to spend it because he thinks being forced to play the same 16 players for 10 games is more fun."
From ScouseMick, via text: "Scottish teams have had eight matches in Europe this season, without looking like getting a single win. Hard times."
2056: In the Carling Cup, Newcastle seem to have upped the ante at Glanford Park and they should be level. Peter Lovenkrands is given a free shot on goal from 15 yards courtesy of a poor defensive header, but home keeper Josh Lillis saves well. A minute later, Leon Best has the ball in the net but it is ruled out for offside, and then seconds after that Lovenkrands fires over from an angle. Somehow it remains 1-0 Scunthorpe.
2053: What of Fulham? Dnipro are creating a few chances, and Nikola Kalinic and Giuliano have both had pops at goal. Kalinic sees his effort blocked and Giuliano fires wide. The Cottagers survive and Martin Jol's side still lead 3-1 on aggregate with less than 20 minutes to go.
Shajan Miah's Europa League updates: Former Real Madrid striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has scored a hat-trick from the penalty spot plus another for good measure to give Schalke a commanding 5-1 lead over HJK Helsinki and a 5-3 lead on aggregate on the night.
FC Sion goal: The Swiss side win a free kick on the edge of the box, and Pascal Feinduono steps up to fire home a left footed strike, leaving Fraser Forster helplessly rooted to the spot. Celtic have got 24 minutes left to mount what is looking like an unlikely comeback.
NealGruer on Twitter: "As a Scot and a Rangers fan it would be devastating to have neither us nor any other Scottish side left in Europe!"
HALF-TIME Tottenham 0-0 Hearts (agg 5-0) Sam Lyon's HT snapshot: "Yep, the kids are all right. Even contest, even if Hearts are grateful to Jamie McDonald's penalty save, but the young 'uns on both sides are outshining their senior team-mates. Spurs cruising through still, though, obviously."
2049: GOALFLASH FC Sion 2-0 Celtic (agg 2-0) (Pascal Feindouno)
2047: Fair play to the travelling Hearts fans, and there are at least 1,500 of them, they have made an incredible din since the game started and show no signs of shutting up. They have had a much more enjoyable first half against Spurs than they did at Tynecastle a week ago too. By this stage in the first leg, Spurs were 3-0 up.
2046: HALF-TIME Tottenham 0-0 Hearts (agg 5-0)
Maribor goal: Problems for Rangers. Big problems. Dalibor Volas collects the ball on the edge of the box and coolly slots into the far corner to put Maribor ahead on the night. They now have an away goal and a two-goal aggregate lead, so Gers have to score twice to take that one to extra-time.
2044: GOALFLASH Rangers 0-1 NK Maribor (agg 1-3) (Dalibor Volas)
From George in Tooting, via text: "As a Fulham fan I sincerely hope we lose this game 2-0 and get completely outplayed. Jol needs to realise our squad is totally substandard in quality and depth."
HALF-TIME Birmingham 2-0 Nacional (agg 2-0) Phil Dawkes' HT snapshot: "Birmingham in complete control at a packed St Andrew's. It's not been the most convincing display, but goals are what matter. Nathan Redmond's was a beauty from 25 yards and David Murphy's a well-executed near-post header. It's City's tie to lose now."
booneyscfc on Twitter: "So happy to be a Potter right now. come on Stoke, were all going on a European tour!!!!"
2040: Hmmm, Fulham are under a bit of pressure at the Dnipro Arena. Another goal there would make things interesting, no?
2037: More problems for Celtic and almost a nightmare start to the second half too. Rodrigo Ramos finds space in the area to get on the end of Aleksandar Prijovic's pass and his shot is heading for the bottom corner until Fraser Forster pushes it on to a post. A close shave.
HALF-TIME Stoke 3-0 FC Thun (agg 4-0) Paul Fletcher's HT snapshot: "Easy isn't it, this European lark? Stoke have a 4-0 aggregate advantage after a dominant first-half. Looking a sure-fire bet to be in Friday's group draw."
Shajan Miah's Europa League Update: Swiss side Young Boys of Bern, who lost to Tottenham in the Champions League qualifiers last season, have been knocked out of the Europa League after drawing 2-2 at home to Braga, who now advance to the next round on away goals.
2035: Ten-man Celtic have just started the second half in Switzerland, and Fulham are back under way in Ukraine too.
2035: HALF-TIME Scunthorpe 1-0 Newcaastle
2034: HALF-TIME Stoke 3-0 FC Thun (agg 4-0)
2034: HALF-TIME Birmingham 2-0 Nacional (agg 2-0)
Tottenham missed penalty: Hearts keeper Jamie McDonald concedes the penalty, bringing down Harry Kane as the Spurs youngster runs on to Tom Carroll's through-ball, but then makes amends by saving it from Kane's firm, low effort. A real shame for the Spurs youngster on his debut, but good work from McDonald nonetheless.
2031: There will be three minutes of added time at the end of the first half at Glanford Park. Scunthorpe still lead 1-0 and are (almost) halfway to their first ever win over a top-flight club in the Carling Cup.
2030: MISSED PENALTY Tottenham's Harry Kane (saved by Jamie McDonald)
2029: PENALTY TO TOTTENHAM
2028: Right, where are we? Stoke and Birmingham are cruising, as are Tottenham despite Hearts holding them tonight. Things are a lot closer for Celtic and Rangers, while Fulham need to pull their socks up.
From Greg in Watford, via text: "If Spurs don't win tonight it won't matter too much; I heard half their first XI got excellent GCSE results this morning!"
pete_christie on Twitter: " Good start from Hearts, closing the ball down well, look more comfortable in midfield. Should've played like this last week!"
Stoke goal: Erm, can I say things are looking very, very good for Stoke now after Glenn Whelan smashes the ball home from the edge of the area after FC Thun fail to clear a corner. It is now 3-0 on the night, 4-0 overall, and not even half-time. Not much fun for Thun so far.
HALF-TIME Rangers 0-0 NK Maribor (agg 1-2) Andy Campbell's HT snapshot: "Tie still on a knife edge at Ibrox. Rangers have had their chances but Jasmin Handovic has had fairly comfortable saves so far. Maribor have been restricted to long range efforts but they remain a threat on the break."
2024: Lots of goals at the Britannia, but none so far at White Hart Lane. Hearts have just gone close though. Daniel Grainger fires in a whipped left-foot free-kick from wide on the right and Carlo Cudicini has to scramble across goal to beat it away from his near post. This is an even contest now after a bright early start from Spurs.
2023: GOALFLASH Stoke 3-0 FC Thun (agg 4-0) (Glenn Whelan)
HALF-TIME Dnipro 1-0 Fulham (agg 1-3) Marc Higginson's HT snapshot: "Fulham have woken from their slumber since Evgeny Shakhov's goal, without really troubling Jan Lastuvka. One piece of bad news is an injury picked up by John Arne Riise, who has been replaced by Matthew Briggs. The pitch at the Dnipro Arena is not the best, and neither is the refereeing, but Fulham are hanging on in there."
2022: HALF-TIME Rangers 0-0 NK Maribor (agg 1-2)
HALF-TIME FC Sion 1-0 Celtic (agg 1-0) Annie McGuire's HT snapshot: "Celtic haven't recovered from that horror start to the match and with 10 men they are struggling to create chances. But a solitary second half goal will put them through."
2019: HALF-TIME Dnipro 1-0 Fulham (agg 1-3)
Stoke goal: Looking good for Stoke, who are now 2-0 up on the night and three ahead on aggregate against FC Thun after Kenwyne Jones scores with a diving header from Jermaine Pennant's cross.
2017: More pressure from Rangers but still no goals. This time Kyle Lafferty takes advantage of a loose ball to go through on goal but Jasmin Handanovic makes a smart save. Maribor are hanging on, and still lead 2-1 on aggregate.
2016: GOALFLASH Stoke 2-0 FC Thun (agg 3-0) (Kenwyne Jones)
2016: HALF-TIME FC Sion 1-0 Celtic (agg 1-0)
2015: Better from Newcastle, who have gone close with Ryan Taylor free-kick and a decent effort from Leon Best. Scunthorpe still lead 1-0 after half an hour.
Birmingham goal: Things are looking very good for Birmingham now. David Murphy rises at the near post from a Jean Beausejour corner and heads his side into a commanding 2-0 lead.
2012: Action at both ends at White Hart Lane. Harry Kane lays the ball to Roman Pavlyuchenko, whose first-time snap-shot from 20 yards is beaten around the post on the stretch by Hearts keeper Jamie McDonald. The Scottish side respond well, though, when Gordon Smith beats Michael Dawson inside the area but sees his rising shot slam against the crossbar.
Stoke goal: The Potters lead from their first real chance of the night. Matthew Upson gets on the end of a corner from the right and heads home his first goal since joining the club in the summer. Breathing space for Tony Pulis and his men.
2010 GOALFLASH Birmingham 2-0 Nacional (agg 2-0) (David Murphy)
2010: GOALFLASH Stoke 1-0 FC Thun (agg 2-0) (Matthew Upson)
jonny_kelly on Twitter: "Why did Pardew have to come out and say we were taking this seriously?"
2007: Tottenham are on top against Hearts in terms of possession but it is the Scottish side who have just had the first shot. Rudi Skacel tries his luck from 25 yards but his effort is miles off target.
2005: Celtic need a goal, desperately, but it is FC Sion who almost score again when Pascal Feindouno is only denied by a great last-ditch block.
OptaJoe on Twitter: "5 - Tottenham scored 5 goals from just 8 shots on target in the first leg of their Europa League qualifying tie against Hearts. Clinical."
Scunthorpe goal: The Iron have been threatening and they get their reward when Michael Nelson rises above the Newcastle defence to head a cross on to the unmarked Chris Dagnall, who turns the ball past Tim Krul and in from eight yards out.
Birmingham goal: We had seen an uncertain start from the Blues but they have just broken the deadlock with an absolute screamer from Nathan Redmond, who smashed his low shot into the bottom corner from 25 yards out. Big things expected of this boy, and tonight he has delivered.
2001: GOALFLASH Birmingham 1-0 Nacional (agg 1-0) (Nathan Redmond)
Dnipro goal: Dnipro have given themselves a glimmer of hope in the Ukraine. Serhiy Kravchenko swings in a fantastic corner and Evgeny Shakhov heads home from inside the area.
1959: Celtic are pressing too, but they also look a bit shaky at the back. FC Sion have just floated a dangerous free-kick into the box that was eventually cleared.
1958: Still goalless at Ibrox, but Rangers are knocking on the door. Another cracking delivery from Gregg Wylde and Maurice Edu heads straight at goalkeeper Aleksandar Stavrev.
1957: News from the Britannia Stadium now. FC Thun midfielder Marc Schneider had an early shot blocked, but it has been an otherwise bright start by Stoke as they look to build on their 1-0 first-leg lead.
1954: Tottenham have now announced that Emmanuel Adebayor has joined from Manchester City on a season-long loan. Adebayor will not be able to face City on Sunday because loanees are not allowed to face their parent clubs.
1951: How many Nacional fans have made the trip to St Andrew's tonight then? Just 77, apparently.
ZenFive on Twitter: "Do you reckon that if Adebayor scores against Man City, he'll run 90 yards down the pitch to celebrate in front of the fans?"
Probably... hence City won't let him play. Also he will be on loan so he cannot.
1949: Damien Duff has had a free-kick saved by Dnipro keeper Jan Lastuvka. Still goalless in the Ukraine, so the Cottagers still lead 3-0 on aggregate.
1948: Celtic are trying to find a way back into their tie in Switzerland. Georgios Samara has just fizzed a shot wide of the target from about 25 yards out.
1947: We are under way at the Britannia Stadium and St Andrew's too.
1945: We have kicked off at Glanford Park in tonight's Carling Cup tie. By the way, Newcastle made six changes from Saturday's north-east derby... and Joey Barton is not in the squad while he thinks over a move to QPR.
1945: With no TV pictures, I am a teeny bit short of information from the Dnipro Arena. Can you tell? Fulham are dominating possession, we think. If you are in the Ukraine, let me know what's happening.
pete_christie on Twitter: "Miracles do happen don't they? I hope Hearts go out and have a proper go, nothing to lose, enjoy the atmosphere!"
1941: Emmanuel Adebayor is in the stands at White Hart Lane, I'm told. Will he be on the pitch against Manchester City on Sunday, though? Surely City will not allow that to happen, even if his move does go through in time?
1938: No news fron the Dnipro Arena yet, but there has been a penalty shout at Ibrox too. Gregg Wylde, who signed a new five-year contract today, sends a delicious cross into the Maribor box which causes the visitors all sorts of trouble and Juanma Ortiz goes down, but Macedonian referee Aleksandar Stavrev is unimpressed with Rangers' penalty appeals.
TOTTENHAM v HEARTS (agg 5-0, 2000 BST) Sam Lyon reports: "Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp, hardly football's biggest Europa League fan, has laid down the gauntlet to what will be a "massively changed" starting XI tonight by declaring: "If we can't hang on to a 5-0 lead there is something wrong with us." No pressure, then. Although, talking of pressure, Hearts boss Paulo Sergio wants his side "to show they can have a professional career" at White Hart Lane."
FC Sion goal: An absolute nightmare start for Celtic. Daniel Majstorovic is sent off for a foul in the box and Pascal Feinduono steps up to convert the resulting penalty.
1935: GOALFLASH FC Sion 1-0 Celtic (agg 1-0) (Pascal Feinduono)
1934: RED CARD Celtic's Daniel Majstorovic
1934: PENALTY to FC Sion
1932: Rangers have started too, and so have Celtic...
1931: Dnipro-Fulham is under way in the Ukraine.
Shajan Miah will be bringing us Europa League updates tonight, and here is his first missive: Last season's quarter-finalist's PSV Eindhoven have now taken a 3-0 lead at home against Austrian side SV Reid, after second half goals from Ola Toivonen, Jeremain Lens and a great finish by Georginio Wijnaldum on what seems like an easy night for them at the Philips Stadion.
STOKE v FC THUN (agg 1-0, 1945 BST) Paul Fletcher reports: "Probably not advisable to suggest to Stoke boss Tony Pulis that his team are not taking this competition seriously. If you do the reply is likely to go something like this - 'Have a look at the results - we are unbeaten in three games and have picked strong teams for all of them. That should answer your question.' Yep, probably best to think of something else to ask him."
DNIPRO v FULHAM (agg 0-3, 1930 BST) Marc Higginson reports: "Fulham manager Martin Jol has challenged Moussa Dembele to step into the void left by the injured Bobby Zamora tonight: "Bobby's not available so we have to find a solution for that position. Moussa came on against Wolves last weekend and did well so hopefully he can have a big say in the game."
TOTTENHAM v HEARTS TEAM NEWS Sam Lyon reports: "All-change for both Tottenham and Hearts tonight - the hosts giving youngsters Ryan Fredericks, Tom Carroll and Harry Kane their senior debuts and Hearts making eight changes from the side routed in the first leg. The real news, though, surrounds who doesn't play - Luka Modric. Just so you know, the Croat would have been cup-tied in Europe until after Christmas had he played tonight. Is that an optimistic eyebrow-raise I see Chelsea fans?"
BIRMINGHAM v NACIONAL TEAM NEWS Phil Dawkes reports: "In the absence of strikers Nikola Zigic, Cameron Jerome and Marlon King, Birmingham pair Chris Wood and Adam Rooney in attack, with the former's inclusion at the expense of Keith Fahey the only change from their 3-1 defeat at Middlesbrough on Sunday. Defenders Liam Ridgewell and Scott Dann remain out, while midfielder Jordon Mutch will miss the next three months after breaking a foot in training."
STOKE v FC THUN TEAM NEWS Paul Fletcher reports: "Stoke make four changes from the side that drew 1-1 at Norwich, with Thomas Sorensen, Danny Pugh, Matthew Upson and Andy Wilkinson in for Asmir Begovic, Matthew Etherington, Roberth Huth and Jonathan Woodgate. Jermaine Pennant plays despite concern over a calf injury."
1925: BREAKING NEWS Emmanuel Adebayor has had a medical at Tottenham today, and is on the brink of completing a loan move from Man City. Happy, Spurs fans?
From James in Glasgow, via text: "Re Celtic team news. Samaras has been frustrating Celtic fans 'of late'? He's been frustrating us since the day he signed!"
Would Celtic fans describe Samaras as an 'uncut diamond'? Nope, thought not...
Spurs fan Sandler41 on Twitter: "Re 1910. Would love for us to just sell Modric already. The way he's handling his conduct is nothing short of embarrassing."
AlexTReid on Twitter: "Must win games for Celtic and Rangers tonight, no excuses Ally or Neil please."
1918: So, who's feeling confident? Yes, Tottenham and Fulham fans are, obviously. And Hearts supporters clearly aren't. The ties involving Celtic and Rangers are in the balance, though, and the same can be said for Birmingham and even Stoke. As for our Carling Cup tie, we wait to see how many changes Newcastle boss Alan Pardew will make. My money is on at least eight.
DNIPRO v FULHAM (agg 0-3, 1930 BST) Marc Higginson reports: "Matthew Briggs might have been the star man in the first leg, sealing an England under-21 call-up to boot, but he is dropped to the bench tonight as Martin Jol favours the experience of John Arne Riise. As expected, Bobby Zamora is sidelined through injury, meaning Andy Johnson leads the line with support from Moussa Dembele and Clint Dempsey. They might be 3-0 up, but this is a strong Fulham team out on the field tonight."
STOKE v FC THUN (agg 1-0, 1945 BST) Paul Fletcher reports: "Stoke won 1-0 in Switzerland thanks to Danny Pugh's winner in the first leg and the Potters will be in Friday's draw for the group stages if they avoid defeat on their own patch. They've come a long way. Exactly 10 years ago Peter Thorne and Andy Cooke scored as Stoke defeated Cambridge United 2-0 in a League One fixture."
BIRMINGHAM v NACIONAL (agg 0-0, 1945 BST) Phil Dawkes reports: "Birmingham were unlucky not to win their first game in Europe for 49 years last Thursday, when the post twice denied them an away goal in Portugal. A goalless draw was a credible result though and courtesy of some slashed ticket prices, City will be hoping for a full house to see them finish the job at St Andrew's. They will have to do so with a weakened attack, shorn of Nikola Zigic, Marlon King and Cameron Jerome. If nothing else, Nacional should be fresh as their league game against Guimaraes at the weekend was postponed."
1910: BREAKING TOTTENHAM TEAM NEWS No sign of Luka Modric, who is not even on the bench. Tottenham go for a youthful line-up, as promised by boss Harry Redknapp. More news on that in a tick.
FC SION v CELTIC TEAM NEWS Annie McGuire reports: "The team news for Celtic may delight and dismay their fans in equal measure. Gary Hooper returns to from injury to start up front: but he's been paired with Georgios Samaras who has frustrated the Parkhead faithful of late. Beram Kayal, Kelvin Wilson and Joe Ledley also return to the starting XI."
RANGERS v NK MARIBOR TEAM NEWS Andy Campbell reports: "Maurice Edu, Carlos Bocanegra and Kirk Broadfoot return to the Rangers line up at the expense of youngsters Ross Perry and Jordan McMillan and the suspended Steven Naismith."
TOTTENHAM v HEARTS (agg 5-0, 2000 BST) Sam Lyon reports: "Tottenham take time out of their efforts to convince Luka Modric that The Lane really is where the Hart is by taking on, erm, Hearts in the return leg of their Europa League qualifier. At 5-0, only a dramatic turnaround will see the Scottish outfit progress - so pride is the name of the game for Hearts this evening, while for Spurs it's an opportunity to give a few of their fringe players a run-out. Intrigue abounds. Ish."
Jayjay_89_ on Twitter: "Stoke to keep everyone's dream alive of a Stoke vs Barcelona Super Cup 2012."
FC Sion v Celtic line-ups FC Sion: Vanins, Dingsdag, Adailton, Vanczak, Buhler, Mutsch, Sio, Obradovic, Die, Feindouno, Afonso. Subs: Fickentscher, Goncalves, Rodrigo, Prijovic, Ketkeophomphone, Crettenand, Mrdja. Celtic: Forster, Majstorovic, Kelvin Wilson, Cha, Mulgrew, Ledley, Brown, Kayal, Ki, Samaras, Hooper. Subs: Zaluska, Matthews, Stokes, Mark Wilson, Commons, McCourt, Forrest. Referee: David Fernandez Borbalan (Almeria)
RANGERS v NK MARIBOR (agg 1-2, 1930 BST) Andy Campbell reports: "It's a crucial evening for Rangers and their manager Ally McCoist. Having made an exit from the Champions League at the qualifying stages, McCoist's men have to turn around a first-leg deficit against Maribor to make the Europa League group stages and maintain European football until the end of the year at least."
FC SION v CELTIC (agg 0-0, 1930 BST) Annie McGuire reports: "It doesn't go un-noticed when Celtic fail to win two matches in a row: and after Saturday's home loss to St Johnstone in the SPL, it is fair to say there's pressure on Neil Lennon ahead of tonight's second leg against Sion. The first leg at Parkhead was fairly turgid stuff, so Lennon will be hoping his misfiring strikers will return to form. Sion fielded four players whose eligibility is under question by Fifa so, regardless of the result tonight, we may yet see this tie settled in the courts."
JamesMNaylor on Twitter: "Never been so nervous about a Stoke game in my life. Even last year's FA Cup final."
DNIPRO v FULHAM (agg 0-3, 1930 BST) Marc Higginson reports: "Fulham hammered a lacklustre Dnipro side last week, meaning they head into tonight's game with a three-goal cushion. The Cottagers have conceded just one goal on their three previous trips to the Continent this season - hardly music to the ears of their Ukrainian opponents who took until the 80th minute to get a shot on target in the first leg."
1853: Even without glancing at the aggregate scores below, I'm sure you hadn't forgotten that last week's first legs were pretty miserable for the three Scottish clubs in the Europa League. Their record was *coughs* P3 W0 D1 L2 F1 A7. Will tonight be any different? Here's some facts that might help you make your mind up: Rangers have fought back to reach the next round only five times in 29 European ties in which they have lost the first leg. Celtic have won only one of their last 28 European away games. Hearts lost the first leg 5-0, at home (I didn't really need to put much effort into that one).
1852: So, a busy night awaits. Whether you're a Tottenham fan unhappy at being in the Europa League or a Celtic fan concerned about possibly being out of it, I want to hear from you. I'm Chris Bevan, and you can tweet me at @chrisbevan_bbc (using the hashtag #BBCFootball please). Or feel free to text me via 81111 (UK) instead.
1845: It is not just the likes of FC Spartak Trnava, AEK Larnaca and Karpaty Lviv who are in action, of course. So too are Roma, PSG and Lazio, and SEVEN British sides. A place in the group stages is up for grabs, and the draw for that is on Friday. If you are in it now, you want to be in it then, don't you? Don't you?
1841 BST: Forget the glitz and glamour of Monte Carlo. Luis Figo, Sir Bobby Charlton and Ruud Gullit, you are not needed here. Yes, banish the Champions League draw from your minds, because from now on tonight is all about the far earthier surroundings of the Europa League. Care to join me for a journey to some of this continent's footballing outposts?
