By Paul Fletcher
2225: OK, that is just about it from me. Ultimately, I guess the result is what most people expected. Blackpool were brave and determined but Chelsea had too much class and were able to collect a reasonably comfortable victory. I doubt whether Tuesday night will be anything like as straightforward as Arsenal go for glory in Barcelona. Chris Bevan will be at the helm to take you through the Champions League this week. Hold on to your hats.
2220: Looking at the tweets and texts there is no doubt that Fernando Torres is the issue that loads of people are talking about. He has now gone five games without scoring and, arguably, equally as worrying has been his form during that time and (lack of) partnership with Didier Drogba.
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway: "I have seen the penalty incident about four or five times. I think my player is a tad naive but the minute my player tried to make a challenge Kalou could not wait to go over. I don't think referee Mike Dean was given any choice really."
2212: On the flipside, although it was a decent evening for Chelsea, it continued a worrying trend for Blackpool. The Tangerines have lost seven of their last nine fixtures and remain two points above the relegation zone.
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti: "It was a good performance and an important result. Salomon Kalou helped us a lot and played very well. Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba played well overall, they were dangerous and I think they played a good game."
From avantsweater on Twitter: "When is Torres going to realise that the only thing he has to do to improve his form is dye his hair blonde?"
2201: Blackpool 1-3 Chelsea BBC Sport's Aimee Lewis: Entertaining stuff at Bloomfield Road. The introduction of Salomon Kalou for the injured Didier Drogba on the hour proved to be a pivotal moment in the match.
BBC Radio 5 live's Jan Molby: "If I was Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti I would be very worried by the balance of the team. Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba are not working at the moment. I don't think there is anything wrong with 4-4-2 but the strike duo have to be a partnership and they are not playing for each other."
2156: An entertaining match. Chelsea were not at their best but had too much for Blackpool and are now just two points behind Manchester City in third with a game in hand. They are nine points behind leaders Manchester United but have a game in hand on them as well and have yet to visit Old Trafford.
2153: Full-time: Blackpool 1-3 Chelsea
2152: Good break from Chelsea ends with a confidence-boosting save from Pool keeper Mark Halstead, who denies Salomon Kalou.
2150: What is going on here? Last minute of normal time and Ian Evatt goes close with a shot across goal. Ian Holloway puts his head in his hands.
2150: Almost another for Blackpool! Matt Phillips plays in fellow substitute Brett Ormerod, who is in loads of space in the Chelsea area. Ormerod shoots and it takes a great block from John Terry to prevent the Tangerines scoring again.
Blackpool goal: What was I saying about it all being too easy for Chelsea? Jose Bosingwa is caught in possession and seconds later Jason Puncheon, on loan from Southampton, has scored. He collects a pass from James Beattie before drilling a low strike beyond Petr Cech. Good finish.
2146: GOAL: Blackpool 1-3 Chelsea (Puncheon)
2145: Salomon Kalou shoots over from a corner yards from goal. This is very, very comfortable for Chelsea.
2143: Best chance of the game for Blackpool. Matt Phillips is played clean through but his low strike across goal is a yard wide of the post. I reckon the home team deserve a goal but Chelsea have shown a clinical edge this half.
2140: Frank Lampard on the ball in the middle of the park. He has been excellent since the break. However, as Jan Molby has just pointed out on BBC Radio 5 live, the England midfielder has profited from the clever running and movement of Salomon Kalou, who came on for Didier Drogba.
2136: A decent sight of goal for Fernando Torres but, after weaving his way into the Blackpool area, the Spain international tries to place his shot and it is far too close to the Tangerines keeper.
2134: Another Chelsea change and Josh McEachran comes on for Ramires. The new arrival is given a big cheer by the away fans. It is the 18-year-old's seventh Premier League appearance.
2133: Florent Malouda on for Yuri Zhirkov. Andy Reid and David Carney make way for Blackpool with Brett Ormerod and Matt Phillips replacing them.
2131: Blackpool continue to push forward. They have to be admired but Chelsea look very capable of picking them off. Blackpool could be the boxer taking too much punishment. Save it for future fights. Like the forthcoming fixture against Blackburn.
2128: Is it me or have Chelsea markedly improved since the departure of Mr D.Drogba?
Chelsea goal: GAME. OVER. And there is no doubt about this one. Salomon Kalou slips the ball through to Frank Lampard. Cracking run from the England midfielder, who slots the ball beyond Richard Kingson from 16 yards. Kingson then makes way for Mark Halstead.
2126: GOAL: Blackpool 0-3 Chelsea (Lampard)
2125: Blackpool attack, Chelsea counter, the home team just about clear the danger.
Chelsea goal: Hmm. Was that a penalty? Blackpool definitely do not think so and manager Ian Holloway is fuming. It is awarded after Ian Evatt challenges Salomon Kalou. Not much in it, but once awarded Frank Lampard makes no mistake, sending Richard Kingson the wrong way.
2122: GOAL: Blackpool 0-2 Chelsea (Lampard)
2122: CHELSEA PENALTY
2121: Blackpool reserve keeper Mark Halstead is warming up and will soon be on to make his Premier League debut. Richard Kingson has obviously not recovered from the knee injury he picked up in the first half.
2120: A scrappy five minutes or so with neither team really bossing the contest. An hour gone now and although they are trailing, Blackpool are very much in this game. Indeed, on the balance of play you could argue they deserve to be on level terms.
2116: Chelsea win a corner. It is whipped-in low but smashed over the crossbar by Michael Essien. Chelsea, by the way, are still playing a 4-4-2 formation.
2115: Didier Drogba, seriously keen to leave the action, is replaced by Salomon Kalou. Drogba looked completely fed up with life as he left the field.
2114: It really is hands on hip time for Didier - the left hip to be precise. He is not happy and I think we will see him withdrawn soon.
2112: Didier Drogba spends a long time receiving treatment after challenging James Beattie inside the Chelsea box. Nicolas Anelka shows scant enthusiasm for leaving his seat and warming up. Oh, hold on, Didier is OK. Thank goodness.
BBC Radio 5 live's Jan Molby: "On the evidence so far Torres and Drogba look a million miles away from ever being able to play together. They have both been very, very poor."
2108: David Vaughan shoots over from 20 yards. Blackpool ended the first half fairly well and have started strongly after the restart.
2107: James Beattie goes down in the Chelsea box. Jose Bosingwa was definitely pulling his shirt but nothing is given.
2106: No substitutions to tell you about. Play restarts.
2106: The players are back out.
From Muzammil Hassan on Twitter: "Torres will come good sooner or later. It is bitter Liverpool fans who are more keen on labelling him a flop."
2100: Every game that goes by without Fernando Torres scoring, the more discussion there will be about the amount he cost and the partnership with Didier Drogba. Chelsea fans - are you worried?
From anonymous, on text: "Drogba-Torres just doesn't work. Torres is one of the laziest strikers around; Liverpool did fantastically well to get shot of him for so much money. Come on Blackpool!"
2053: Another good statistic from Infostrada. It is almost 40 years since Blackpool earned their last clean sheet at home in the English top flight. On 12 April 1971, Blackpool drew 0-0 with Spurs.
2053: HALF-TIME Blackpool 0-1 Chelsea Aimee Lewis's HT snap-shot: "Chelsea looked in control but Blackpool burst into action after Jason Puncheon's shot hit the post in the 33rd minute and even though the home side haven't scored yet, they've created plenty of chances. "
2051: Half-time: Blackpool 0-1 Chelsea
2050: Far too much time for Ramires to shoot and the Brazilian duly obliges, with Seasiders keeper Richard Kingson making a decent stop, pushing the 20-yard strike out for a corner.
BBC Radio 5 live's Jan Molby: "On the evidence so far Torres and Drogba look a million miles away from ever being able to play together. They have both been very. very poor. "
From Ben Cerasale on Twitter: "Blackpool don't deserve to be losing here! Reid and Puncheon are having a stormer out there, some terrific touches, love it!"
2043: Teasing cross from Ashley Cole forces a decent clearance from Alex Baptiste. The Tangerines manage to clear, putting the ball out for a throw. The fact that Chelsea take their time restarting suggests they are keen to edge the match through to the break.
2041: Oops. Didier Drogba drifts offside. A total waste because a lovely pass plays him through in space. The Tangerines then press again and David Luiz is forced to make a very good defensive header.
2040: Taxi for Lampard, thanks to a delicious turn from Andy Reid. Cue cheers from the home fans.
2039: All Blackpool. Petr Cech does well to tip a teasing cross-come-shot from Ian Evatt out for a corner.
2037: David Carney has a shot blocked. Earlier in the move the Blackpool player catches Jose Bosingwa, who hits the turf in a manner befitting of an extra in a battle scene depicting a particularly bloody encounter. Strangely, a minute or so later he is OK.
2036: Woah, so near to an equaliser. A low 20-yard strike from Jason Puncheon does not look all that menacing but Petr Cech makes a meal of a low save, pushing the ball on to the base of the post.
2035: A promising position for Blackpool is transformed into a blistering Chelsea break in a matter of seconds. Tangerines defender Alex Baptiste makes a good challenge to snuff out the danger.
2031: Another surging run down the right from Jose Bosingwa carries him into the Blackpool area. He stays on his feet despite a somewhat robust challenge from Stephen Crainey. Saved Mike Dean from making a tricky decision.
2028: Blackpool struggling to keep hold of the ball at the moment. James Beattie must hold it for a few seconds when it comes up to him or the pressure will continue to mount on his team. Frank Lampard is most assuredly unamused at not being awarded a free-kick after he goes down under a challenge from Keith Southern.
2025: Almost another goal for Chelsea, who are suddenly swamping their opponents, but Richard Kingson makes an athletic one-handed save to deny Jose Bosingwa strike from a wide angle.
Chelsea goal: Cracking header from Chelsea skipper John Terry, who rises above everybody else six yards from goal to convert Frank Lampard's corner.
2023: GOAL: Blackpool 0-1 Chelsea (Terry)
2020: Michael Essien goes down heavily after a hard but fair challenge from David Vaughan. Didier Drogba gets the hump when Blackpool do not kick the ball straight out so that his team-mate can receive treatment. Why? Not a head injury and it was a decent challenge.
BBC Radio 5 live's Jan Molby: "Blackpool have a weakness in that when they throw so many men forward they leave themselves open to the counter attack.""
From Crash Davis on Twitter: "Chelsea subs huddled under a blanket with a bloke in shorts and T-shirt sat next to them on the bench!"
2013: Fernando Torres bursts down the left. His cross is put out for a corner. It is played low to Yuri Zhirkov but the Russian's shot is blocked.
2011: End-to-end so far. Richard Kingson pounces on a loose ball in the Blackpool box just as Didier Drogba challenges for it as well. Kingson holds on to it at the second attempt but not before he is well and truly clattered by Drogba. An injury break ensues.
2008: This is better from Blackpool. The ball breaks to David Carney, who bursts into the Chelsea area but he is muscled off the ball before he can shoot.
2006: A shot on target from Blackpool's David Carney but the Australian's effort is straight at Petr Cech.
2005: Chance for Chelsea as Michael Essien craftily flicks on a free-kick from Frank Lampard that eludes an unmarked Fernando Torres at the far post.
2005: It would be fair to say that Chelsea have bossed the opening minute or so - 4-4-2 or not, they are straight into their rhythm.
2002: The game starts. I can see some empty seats. Why?
1959: Blackpool v Chelsea scene-setter BBC Sport's Aimee Lewis: Chelsea visit Blackpool on the back of a confidence-boosting win over Premier League leaders Manchester United. Boss Carlo Ancelotti says the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge has changed for the better since that 2-1 win over United, but for Blackpool it's a different tale. The Seasiders beat Tottenham in their last home game but suffered a heavy 4-0 loss against Wolves just over a week ago and are perilously close to the relegation zone.
1957: Players in the tunnel. Looking focused. Ghana team-mates Michael Essien and Richard Kingson have a chat.
From Jonny, on text: "Blackpool fan at Bloomfield Road. Came to the ground feeling positive - then I saw the Chelsea line up!"
1950: Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti: "It will be a difficult game. We must take it game by game, if we are not focused it will be very tough for us."
1947: Blackpool v Chelsea team news BBC Sport's Aimee Lewis: Didier Drogba returns for Chelsea at the expense of Nicolas Anelka and lines up alongside Fernando Torres. Defender David Luiz has recovered from a tight hamstring and starts, as does Jose Bosingwa and Yuri Zhirkov. Blackpool are without suspended duo DJ Campbell and Charlie Adam but the good news for the Seasiders is that left-back Stephen Crainey starts after recovering from injury. Andy Reid, David Carney and Jason Puncheon are also recalled as manager Ian Holloway makes four changes to the team which lost at Wolves. Interestingly, there isn't a defender on the Blackpool bench.
1943: We have already discussed the absence of Charlie Adam but I reckon it is worth mentioning that DJ Campbell is out as well. That means a lot of responsibility on lone striker James Beattie.
1941: Is it me or does that Chelsea side look very strong?
From Tom, on text: "I'm an undercover Arsenal fan at Bloomfield Road sitting in the Chelsea end. Hope no one sees the Arsenal shirt I've got on underneath this inconspicuous dark blue coat!" Haven't you picked the wrong coastal town beginning with B?
1936: I was out with a mate on Friday who is a very big Blackpool supporter (in the sense that he knows an awful lot about them). He is undecided as to whether his team will survive this season. Currently Ian Holloway's cavalier outfit are 15th, just two points above the drop zone. They have provided plenty of entertainment this season and shown a lot of guts. Six defeats in their last eight league outings might suggest a long campaign is starting to catch up with them.
From Stan, on text: "Hi Paul. You're right regarding Charlie Adam being key. But Blackpool will still make it difficult for Chelsea. It's in their nature because they fight until the end. Saying that, I reckon Chelsea will win 2 1 with Torres getting his first goal. What's your prediction?"
From Matt Hardy on Twitter: "Chelsea fan from Blackpool. Really want both sides to get three points here. Chelsea are still gonna be here next season though..." Struggling there, me thinks. You'll have to go one way or the other.
1930: Interesting thought there africanpride. This will be the fifth game Fernando Torres has played since his whopping £50m transfer from Liverpool. If the Spaniard is in need of inspiration perhaps he ought to think back to 12 January when he scored at Bloomfield Road for his former club. Or maybe not, given that he was on the losing side in that game.
1925: BLACKPOOL v CHELSEA TEAMS Blackpool: Kingson, Eardley, Baptiste, Evatt, Crainey, Puncheon, Vaughan, Southern, Carney, Reid, Beattie. Subs: Halstead, Ormerod, Taylor-Fletcher, Grandin, Varney, Phillips, Kornilenko. Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, David Luiz, Terry, Cole, Ramires, Essien, Lampard, Zhirkov, Drogba, Torres. Subs: Turnbull, Ivanovic, Malouda, Ferreira, Kalou, Anelka, McEachran. Referee: Mike Dean (Wirral)
1924: Here is an interesting statistic from Infostrada - Blackpool have scored in their last 37 games in all competitions at Bloomfield Road, a sequence that stretches back to a goalless draw with Derby County in the Championship on 18 August, 2009.
1921: Remember, this evening is nothing without you, so stay in touch by texting or tweeting - the magic number is 81111, and @Paul__Fletcher and the hashtag #BBCFootball are all you need to know.
1918: Blackpool have defeated the likes of Liverpool (twice) and Tottenham this season but they are without suspended skipper Charlie Adam this evening. It would be wrong to say the Tangerines are a one-man team but, equally, it is difficult to understate his influence and importance to his team. Put it this way, I don't think Chelsea are upset he isn't playing.
1915: Evening. Sincerely hope conjunctivitis wasn't the key theme of your day. Pesky one, just ask my sticky-eyed son (not that his answer will make sense, he can't talk yet). Any road, Chelsea keeper Petr Cech has been talking up his team's chances of retaining the Premier League title. I understand where he is coming from. Chelsea are 12 points behind leaders Manchester United but have two games in hand and an intriguing fixture at Old Trafford. There is plenty of mileage left in this season. However, fail to win at Blackpool and it is all over. Isn't it?
