Wales were beaten 4-1 by Switzerland in their last Euro 2012 qualifier

Wales have plummeted 20 places to 104th in October's Fifa world rankings, with Scotland falling 10 positions to 57th.

Wales, who have lost their first three Euro 2012 qualifiers, find themselves below the Gambia and Kuwait, while Scotland are level with Venezuela.

England remain sixth but Northern Ireland have moved up four places to 41st and the Republic of Ireland have risen one spot to 32nd.

Italy are down three places to 16th, their lowest ranking.

The Azzurri endured a disastrous World Cup in South Africa, finishing bottom of their group without a win.

Wales, who lost their most recent Euro 2012 qualifier to Switzerland 4-1, have been as low as 109th in 2000.

Scotland, who have kicked off their qualifying campaign with a win, a draw and two defeats, stooped to 86th in 2004.
