England 2-1 Hungary: Fabio Capello's men make their first appearance since exiting the World Cup with a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Germany. They take on Hungary in a friendly at Wembley
There are plenty of empty seats at Wembley, but the loud boos forecast for the England team do not materialise as the majority of the fans get behind Capello and his under-pressure team
England make a bright start, but after Adam Johnson blazes over early on from Theo Walcott's cross they struggle to create chances, and Wayne Rooney is soon involved with the referee as his frustration grows
Hungary silence Wembley when they take the lead in the second half, Vladimir Koman's cross deflected into his own net by Phil Jagielka. However, replays show the whole ball may not have crossed the line
But captain fantastic Steven Gerrard steps up to the plate with a fabulous 22-yard drive to level and he wins it by weaving into space in the Hungary box to poke home a fabulous winner
Capello hands four players their England debut in the shape of Michael Dawson, Kieran Gibbs, Bobby Zamora and Jack Wilshere. Zamora goes close with a late header that had to be saved by Gabor Kiraly
Wales 5-1 Luxembourg: John Toshack's men get their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign under way next month in Montenegro and they begin preparations against Luxembourg. David Cotterill opens the scoring
But Luxembourg, ranked 117 in the world, shock the fans in Llanelli when Joel Kitenge hammers past Wayne Hennessey with the aid of a deflection from Craig Morgan
Wales recover and after Joe Ledley puts them in front from the penalty spot, Leicester midfielder Andy King grabs his first international goal with a fine header from Craig Bellamy's corner
Wales improve as the game wears on and they add gloss to the scoreline late on, with Ashley Williams (left) scoring his first goal for his country and captain Bellamy firing in a deserved fifth after a superb solo display
Sweden 3-0 Scotland: Craig Levein's Scots are in friendly action too, in Stockholm against another side who failed to qualify for the World Cup. Kirk Broadfoot gets his foot up high to challenge Andreas Isaksson early on
But it turns out to be a difficult night for the Scots as goals from the returning Sweden captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Emir Bajrami and Ola Toivonen secure an easy victory for the home side
Montenegro 2-0 Northern Ireland: It is a similarly testing evening for Nigel Worthington and his boys in Podgorica, as goals either side of the break from Radomir Djalovic earn the hosts a comfortable victory
