Jack Rodwell, 19, Everton: Already an important part of David Moyes' first team, Rodwell can play as a defensive midfielder or further up the pitch. A good season could result in him breaking into Fabio Capello's England squad.
Jack Wilshere, 18, Arsenal: One of many young Gunners players who seem to have been around for a long time. Boss Arsene Wenger would like to keep the England Under-21 star this season rather than loan him out again.
Joe Hart, 23 Manchester City: Many people's pick to start the Euro 2012 qualifiers in goal for England, it is unknown whether Hart will be City's first-choice keeper. A loan move is likely if Shay Given starts the season.
Aaron Ramsey, 19, Arsenal: Ramsey's horrific injury suffered at Stoke in January means he is unlikely to play again until 2011. Fans will have to wait and see if the hugely talented midfielder can regain his form and fitness.
Phil Jones, 18, Blackburn: Jones made his Rovers debut in March and his excellent form earned him a rapid call-up to the England under-21 squad. He is likely to be first choice to play alongside Ryan Nelsen in central defence.
Kyle Walker, 20, Tottenham: Signed from Sheffield United last summer, Walker has impressed in pre-season, filling in for Tottenhams injury-prone centre-backs. Walker is versatile and will be a useful squad member.
Chris Smalling, 20, Manchester United: His rise from Maidstone United in 2008 to Old Trafford via Fulham has been meteoric. His arrival could be the start of the end for ageing and injury-prone centre-back Rio Ferdinand.
Danny Wilson, 18, Liverpool: Signed from Rangers in a deal that could be worth up to 5m. He was voted Scottish Professional Footballers Association and Football Writers' Young Player of the Year last season.
Jordan Henderson, 20, Sunderland: The Black Cats' official Young Player of the Year for 2009/2010. Henderson signed a five-year deal in April. A versatile player, Henderson can perform both in midfield and defence.
Nathan Delfouneso, 19, Aston Villa: With Villa's squad looking painfully thin, the Birmingham-born striker should have plenty of opportunities to stake his claim for a role in the attack. Has scored six goals in 25 appearances.
