Marc Wilson is in the Republic squad for the Brazil friendly

Portsmouth defender Marc Wilson has been included in the Republic of Ireland squad for the first time for Tuesday's friendly against Brazil.

Manager Giovanni Trapattoni has also called up teenagers Greg Cunningham of Manchester City and James McCarthy of Wigan for the Emirates Stadium match.

Midfielder McCarthy is rewarded for some promising performances for Wigan.

Wilson, 22, played for Northern Ireland at Under-15 and 17 level being opting to represent the Republic.

It is the Republic's first match since controversially losing out to France in their World Cup play-off.

As well as the new faces in the squad, the Republic have also included their senior men, including record scorer Robbie Keane, currently enjoying a good run of form during his loan spell at Celtic.

John O'Shea is injured while Celtic defender Darren O'Dea is left out, as are Hibernian's Liam Miller and Anthony Stokes.

Trapattoni is eager for his players to put the frustration of losing to France behind them.

Thierry Henry's handball in the second leg set up William Gallas for the goal which decided the tie.
