Friday 5 February 2010. Will he or won't he? The answer is yes as a fortnight of speculation and scrutiny over John Terry's private life ends with England boss Fabio Capello stripping him of the captain's armband
3 June 2003. It has been a colourful England career so far for the Chelsea centre-half. The 29-year-old makes his international debut coming on as a half-time substitute in a 2-1 win over Serbia and Montenegro
24 June 2004. It's heartache for England at the European Championships when Swiss referee Urs Maier penalises Terry for a foul on keeper Ricardo to deny Sol Campbell a dramatic winner against Portugal in the quarter-finals
10 August 2006. The dawn of a new era when coach Steve McClaren selects the Chelsea man as the new England skipper to replace David Beckham after the 2006 World Cup
16 August 2006. What a start. In his first game as England captain he heads in the first in a 4-0 win over Greece in a friendly. After the game vice-captain Steven Gerrard calls Terry a "fantastic leader" and "a great guy"
11 October 2006. Terry leads England out for a European Championship qualifier against Croatia. It's a miserable night in Zagreb with a 2-0 drubbing as their qualifying hopes wobble. It's Terry's first defeat as England skipper
1 June 2007. The smiles return when Terry rises at the back post to nod in a David Beckham free-kick against Brazil. It's the first senior goal at the new Wembley, but it's cancelled out by a late Ribas Diego equaliser
27 May 2008. Terry misses Fabio Capello's first match with a broken foot. He gets the armband back and scores in a 2-0 win over the USA. Capello says: "John Terry's charisma influences other players. He's a natural leader."
19 August 2008. Terry is named as permanent captain of England by Capello ahead of the friendly against Czech Republic at Wembley. But it's not a good one as he leads his players to a very unspectacular 2-2 draw
1 April 2009. It might be April Fool's day but Terry ensures England are not the fall guys as he notches a vital late winner in a 2-1 win over Ukraine to keep his side on course for World Cup qualification in South Africa
Almost 18 months after Capello decides Terry should lead his England side, the Italian strips him of the armband and hands it to Rio Ferdinand. Will it be the right choice with a World Cup four months away?
