2200: Right then, here endeth 2009 in the Premier League. Let's not get all emotional about it though. Stevo will be here this weekend for the magic of the FA Cup, and the Premier League's back next Tuesday. See you next decade then?
2158: Portsmouth have scored 18 goals in 20 games, by the way. They stay bottom of the table as we head into 2010, four points from safety. Wigan, with the league's worst goal difference of minus 23, are a point above the drop zone.
2154: Quite a title race we have on our hands. Chelsea lead by two points from Manchester United, with Arsenal another two points back - but with a game in hand. The Gunners, by the way, have scored 51 goals in 19 games.
2152: FULL-TIME Man Utd 5-0 Wigan
2146: No idea if that last tweet is accurate. Be kind of appropriate if Wayne Rooney scored the last goal of 2009, since he is the year's top scorer in the Prem. Coming up to stoppage time at Old Trafford.
From TorreSamK9 on Twitter: "Zayatte OG in 08, Bentley screamer in 07, Nade's shock strike against Arsenal in 06. But who will get the last goal of 09?"
2143: Mike Pollitt has to be alert to prevent Wigan team-mate Emmerson Boyce deflecting in Anderson's dangerous cross from the right.
2139: Manchester United's goal difference is now 27, just two short of Chelsea's. Arsenal's is 30.
Man Utd goal: And that makes it Man Utd 10-0 Wigan over their two league games this season. Wayne Rooney slips the pass through for Antonio Valencia, who uses the outside of his boot to lift the ball over the onrushing Mike Pollitt. Delicious finish, but the former Wigan winger refuses to celebrate.
2133: GOALFLASH Man Utd 5-0 Wigan (Valencia)
2132: Think Arsene Wenger's pretty confident about winning this one now. Craig Eastmond is on for Samir Nasri.
2130: Arsenal replace Andrei Arshavin with Carlos Vela. At Old Trafford, Wigan send Erik Edman on for Hendry Thomas.
Arsenal goal: Steve Finnan's clearance only reaches Samir Nasri on the right and he crosses for Alex Song to head in number four for the Gunners. Rangers, meanwhile, have scored seven against Dundee United. 2009 is going out with a goalrush...
2127: GOALFLASH Portsmouth 1-4 Arsenal (Song)
2127: A hat-trick of changes by Fergie. Dimitar Berbatov, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra will have a little rest, as Anderson, Fabio and Danny Welbeck will play out the final 24 minutes. For Wigan, Scott Sinclair is on for Charles N'Zogbia.
2124: Just before that Portsmouth goal, Charles N'Zogbia wasted a great chance for Wigan against Manchester United, beating the keeper but missing the far post.
Portsmouth goal: Good move. Nadir Belhadj plays the ball out to Anthony Vanden Borre on the right and is on the end of the cut-back, his shot coming off the defender to beat Manuel Almunia.
2121: GOALFLASH Portsmouth 1-3 Arsenal (Belhadj)
2118: Portsmouth are finally back up to 11 men as Kanu comes on about five minutes after Boateng's injury. For Arsenal, Tomas Rosicky replaces Eduardo.
Arsenal goal: Portsmouth, still down to 10 men following Kevin-Prince Boateng's injury, give the ball away through substitute Anthony Vanden Borre. Aaron Ramsey picks up the ball, glides past one challenge and smashes a stunning left-foot shot past Asmir Begovic. Wonderful finish.
2116: GOALFLASH Portsmouth 0-3 Arsenal (Ramsey)
2113: Kevin-Prince Boateng needs treatment at Fratton Park after landing awkwardly in a challenge with Alex Song. The Pompey midfielder hobbles off for some more attention.
2111: United so close to a fifth after some magnificent build-up play. Ji-Sung Park's backheel finds Dimitar Berbatov, who stands the ball up for Wayne Rooney. He can only guide the header onto the bar though. That would have been some goal.
Man Utd goal: Hendry Thomas slips as he tries to intercept Antonio Valencia's cross and the ball ends up with Dimitar Berbatov, who takes a touch before flicking a cool finish with the outside of his boot past Mike Pollitt.
2109: GOALFLASH Man Utd 4-0 Wigan (Berbatov)
2108: Rare moment of danger for Arsenal as Hassan Yebda's well-struck shot takes a deflection - but is caught by Manuel Almunia.
2106: United pick up where they left off in the first half, Ji Sung Park driving into the box and crossing for Wayne Rooney to shoot goalwards on the half-volley - held by Mike Pollitt in the Wigan goal.
2105: Portsmouth boss Avram Grant makes his first change - and it's a popular one among the home fans. Huge cheers greet the withdrawal of Aaron Mokoena. Anthony Vanden Borre is the man to replace him.
2103: Second half about to get under way at Old Trafford and Wigan are replacing their keeper. Mike Pollitt on for Chris Kirkland. Injury? Or sparing blushes? And they're off.
2100: Nadir Belhadj flashes a shot across goal for Portsmouth, after Kevin-Prince Boateng completely misses an overhead attempt. Slim picking for the hosts.
2058: Samir Nasri needs treatment on a hand injury after a challenge with Younes Kaboul. He'll be OK I reckon.
From rustybin via text: "The best first half I've seen us play this season. But Berbs still not interested. Maybe we should pay him more?"
2052: They're back up and running at Fratton Park. No half-time changes.
2050: All too easy for the big guns tonight. Manchester United, as it stands, will be two points behind leaders Chelsea, with Arsenal another two points further back, but with a game in hand.
2047: HALF-TIME Man Utd 3-0 Wigan
Man Utd goal: Right-back Rafael takes advantage of some very generous Wigan defending to score his first goal at Old Trafford. The defender is allowed plenty of time to take a few touches and set himself before arrowing a shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. He runs to the bench to celebrate with brother Fabio. Lovely.
2045: GOALFLASH Man Utd 3-0 Wigan (Rafael)
2041: Paul Scharner canters over the halfway line to spark a rare attack from Wigan. He lays off to Hugo Rodallega, who cuts in from the right and finds Won-Hee Cho. Hopeless shot from the South Korean.
2037: Wigan will do well to get to half-time only two goals down. United are playing very, very well. Except Dimitar Berbatov, who has just blasted an attempted cross into the crowd.
2036: HALF-TIME Portsmouth 0-2 Arsenal
2034: Hendry Thomas lets one fly from about 40 yards for Wigan. Good effort, but off target.
Man Utd goal: A sweeping Manchester United move ends with Antonio Valencia cutting the ball back from the right for Michael Carrick to pass the ball into the bottom corner. Lovely finish and, like Arsenal, United fully deserve their lead.
Arsenal goal: The Gunners double their lead and they deserve nothing less having bossed the half. The ball finds its way to Eduardo inside the Pompey box, he takes his time before passing square to Aaron Ramsey and the Welsh teenager brilliantly flicks it on to Samir Nasri, who lashes into the bottom corner past Asmir Begovic.
2031: GOALFLASH Man Utd 2-0 Wigan (Carrick)
2030: GOALFLASH Portsmouth 0-2 Arsenal (Nasri)
Man Utd goal: Antonio Valencia finds the overlapping Rafael, who crosses for Wayne Rooney to provide what we here all agree is a deft finish at the near post. Rooney is unplayable at the moment.
2022: Dimitar Berbatov one-on-one with Chris Kirkland now, lifting the ball over the keeper but getting the angle all wrong. I have no idea how Wigan are still in this game.
2019: United piling on the pressure, but Wigan defending desperately. Wayne Rooney skins Maynor Figueroa on the left and curls a low, angled shot past Chris Kirkland - but it comes back off the post and the Wigan keeper saves the rebound at the feet of the England striker. That came shortly after Paul Scharner cleared off the line from Nemanja Vidic.
2018: Wayne Rooney plays in Dimitar Berbatov, who takes a touch and then is brought to ground by Titus Bramble's hefty challenge. No penalty though.
Arsenal goal: Aaron Mokoena's foul on Aaron Ramsey gives Arsenal a free-kick. Eduardo's effort takes a big deflection off Younes Kaboul. It appears to catch Herman Hreidarsson unawares because he is standing on the line - but just watches the ball go past him.
2015: GOALFLASH Portsmouth 0-1 Arsenal (Eduardo)
2014: Antonio Valencia wins the ball in midfield and plays in Wayne Rooney, who crosses for Dimitar Berbatov at the far post. Weak header caught by Chris Kirkland.
2011: Patrice Evra's interception sets up a Manchester United counter-attack, but Darren Fletcher's lofted pass out to Dimitar Berbatov catches the Bulgarian narrowly offside. Meanwhile, at Fratton Park, Pompey midfielder Aaron Mokoena warms the fingers of a bloke in the crowd with a wayward shot over the bar.
From Tom, Bristol, via text: "My favourite mixed metaphor was Big Ron once describing (I think) Fernando Morientes as 'the equivalent of the Spanish David Beckham'. Like all the best mixed metaphors, you knew exactly what he was trying to say, despite it being completely meaningless."
2007: Pompey keeper Asmir Begovic makes a sharp save at his near post after Eduardo sets up Abou Diaby. Arsenal really threatening now.
2005: Arsenal starting to find their feet at Fratton Park. Eduardo glances a header wide from Bacary Sagna's cross.
2003: Antonio Valencia has the first effort on goal at Old Trafford, easily saved by Chris Kirkland... And now Darren Fletcher volleys about a yard wide. Promising start by the champions.
From Keith, Chesterfield, via text: "On Radio Sheffield on Monday a caller stated that he'd heard Steve Cotterill had already turned down one job [Cheltenham] as he knew there was 'a bigger fish around the corner' I do love a mixed metaphor."
2000: And away they go at Old Trafford.
1958: Alex Song slips on the wet surface, and Kevin-Prince Boateng scampers through on goal, but he selfishly decides to go for the shot from a difficult angle and only finds the side netting.
1957: Good shooting opportunity for Portsmouth's Richard Hughes... but he scuffs it. The ball comes to Frederic Piquionne, who also scuffs his effort and is offside anyway. Not a great spell of play, all in all.
1955: If I was going to give an award for 'text to a live text of the Noughties', I'd definitely give it to Joe (see a few entries back). It's still making me lol.
1953: I was hoping something might have happened by now... but there's just been a lot of possession surrendering.
1948: Off we go at Fratton Park then. Perry Como was at number one with Magic Moments the last time Portsmouth beat Arsenal.
From Oli, a very cold Portsmouth fan at Fratton Park: "All the noise is coming from the Arsenal fans. I get the feeling that Portsmouth fans are resigned to defeat already. Good news that Fabregas is out though. 2-1 to Pompey."
1946: Bless you. You're all making me laugh A LOT. The teams are out at Fratton Park, so we may have to start focusing on the football shortly.
From Peter, Oldbury, via text: "Re 1900: The most annoying word-related development of the Noughties is the obsession with combining names to make one, eg 'Jedward' and 'Brangelina'. Lets hope Booney score a few tonight."
From Joe via text: "Re 1931: My mother thought 'lol' meant lots of love and put it at the end of a text offering her condolences at the death of a relative."
Portsmouth boss Avram Grant: "I want to speak only about football. When the players play we want them to do their best, we speak just about football. Arsenal at this time are maybe the most difficult team to play against, but we are at home and will do what we have to do."
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "We never speak about the weaknesses of our opponents, we want to play well and deliver a performance tonight. Cesc Fabregas looks like he'll be out for about 10 days, there was no chance he could play tonight."
1933: Now then, observants among you will have noticed that there are no Englishmen in either starting line-up at Fratton Park tonight. That, apparently, has never happened in the Premier League before. Ever.
1931: The weird thing about 'lol' is it's an abbreviation of 'laugh out loud' - a phrase I have never seen used in its long form. In other news, Won-Hee Cho will apparently be playing in midfield for Wigan tonight, not defence. I'm glad that's cleared up.
From Doug, Leyland, via text: "Re 1900: Surely the most annoying non-real word has to be "lol". I teach teenagers and they use it so much that I think eventually it'll replace the full stop in the English language. Sigh."
1926: TEAM NEWS Man Utd v Wigan Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson makes one change to the side that beat Hull 3-1 just two days ago - the 99th consecutive match in which the Scot has not retained the same starting XI - as Ji Sung Park is picked in place of Ryan Giggs, who does not even make the bench. Paul Scholes is another who does not make the squad, as is keeper Ben Foster who loses out to 19-year-old Ben Amos for a spot of seat-warming. Wigan manager Roberto Martinez also makes a single change following his side's 1-1 draw with Blackburn on Boxing day, midfielder Won-Hee Cho replacing striker Jason Scotland.
From Patrick_23 on 606: "Looks like Foster isn't even on the bench for United this evening, with Amos taking his place. Is this a subtle hint from SAF to Capello? Bad news for England though!"
1920: TEAM NEWS Portsmouth v Arsenal Portsmouth make four changes for the visit of the Gunners, with Hasan Yebda, Aaron Mokoena, Richard Hughes and Kevin-Prince Boateng all back in the starting XI. Arsenal, who are without injured captain Cesc Fabregas after his stunning cameo as a sub three days ago, bring Aaron Ramsey in for Brazilian midfielder Denilson, who has a back injury. Theo Walcott is missing from the matchday squad.
1911: Now since it's the end of the Nough decade, BBC Sport's Phil McNulty has invited you all to laugh in his face by picking his Premier League team of the decade. Curious choice of Bramble and Boumsong in central defence, but hey, he's entitled to an opinion right?
1906: Anyway, we're saying goodbye to Premier League football in the so-called 'Noughties' (grrr) tonight. Bottom club Portsmouth, who claim their winding-up order is just a, er, wind-up, are at home to back-in-the-title-race Arsenal. Manchester United are looking to close the gap at the top to two points as they host Wigan.
1900: Noughties. Most annoying word-which-isn't-even-a-word ever?
