Ruud van Nistelrooy's injury problems have returned
Real Madrid's Ruud van Nistelrooy will be out for up to six weeks after injuring a muscle in his left thigh.
The Dutchman, 33, injured himself in rounding the keeper and scoring during Real's 5-0 win over Xerez, following nine months out with a knee injury.
The striker is now set to miss at least the next five La Liga matches and Champions League fixtures at home to Marseille and AC Milan.
Van Nistelrooy has scored 46 league goals for Real since signing in 2006.
The former Manchester United striker, who recently came out of international retirement, was a summer target for Blackburn and Tottenham, but opted to stay and fight for a starting place at the Bernabeu.
He was the top scorer in the Spanish league for 2006-07 with 25 goals in 37 matches and during his spell at Old Trafford he claimed 95 goals in 150 games, during five seasons.
