Peel and Rushen pull clear at top

Football

Peel and Rushen both won in the Sure Mobile Premier League on Saturday to open up a five-point lead over third-placed side Gymnasium.

Peel defeated Gymns 2-0 at Douglas Road to end the Tromode side's 100% start to the season, courtesy of an own goal and a Johnny Myers penalty.

Meanwhile, Rushen secured three points with a 3-0 win at Old Boys to keep the pressure on their western rivals.

Aaron Hawley, Tom Craine and Josh Kelly scored the goals.

Elsewhere, St Mary's defeated Union Mills 5-2 at the Bowl to leave the Millers searching for their first points.

Laxey beat Corinthians 3-0, Castletown won 5-2 at home to Michael and Ramsey took the points with a 4-2 win over St John's.
