Fans pay tribute to Sir Bobby Robson at St James' Park
Football fans have been paying their tributes to Sir Bobby Robson following the former England manager's death at the age of 76.
Robson will be remembered by many for his success on the international stage, leading England to the 1990 World Cup semi-final.
As a club manager, he cut his teeth with Fulham before enjoying spells with Ipswich, PSV Eindhoven, Sporting Lisbon, Porto, Barcelona and Newcastle.
But his stature was such that fans of all clubs have been paying tribute to a true great of the game on the BBC's 606 website.
Here is a small cross-section from the thousands of messages of goodwill received.
BOBBIEFLOWERS
There are very few people who live in the public eye who you know, categorically, even though you have never actually met them, that they are thoroughly nice and decent people.
Sir Bobby was most certainly one of them.

Thank you Sir Bobby Robson for two great years and two great titles.
But first and foremost thank you for the unforgettable injection of football passion you brought us.
If the world was full of Bobby Robsons it would be a beautiful place

A day we all knew would come but never wanted to see.
Sir Bobby felt like a hero and friend to so many people, most of whom would never meet him.
A gentleman with honour, skill, intelligence, wit and principles... A nation, and in particular the Geordie nation misses you already.

RIP - Sir Bobby was a true legend of the game and a gentleman in everything he did. The world of football has lost one of its greatest ambassadors.
He displayed the great spirit throughout his illness as he did in his footballing life and for me is one of the few people who actually deserved to be called "Sir".

Bobby will go down in history as one of the genuine nice guys in football, he was a legend and will never be forgotten.
If the world was full of Bobby Robsons it would be a beautiful place. RIP.
