1500: Macca's got his violin out: "Spare a thought for Gary Alexander. Has Wembley ever seen someone go from superhero to ground zero in such dramatic circumstances? The good news is that he's far from a zero in the eyes of Player Rater. He's a hugely impressive 8.71. There's still time for you to pop over and make/break his day:" Rate the players
Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins: "What a magnificent group of people they are. They've bounced back from horrible defeat, they've played 60 games this season. But both sets of players did great, it was so hot out there today."
SCUNTHORPE ARE PROMOTED TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP
1454: Full-time Millwall 2-3 Scunthorpe Many, many, many congratulations to Scunthorpe, it's a fabulous achievement to get out of League One at the first attempt. But Millwall's players and fans should hold their heads high, they have more than played their part in a truly breathtaking game of football.
1450: Poor Gary Alexander. I wonder how he's feeling, I wonder how many 'hero to villain' headlines are about to be written? Can Millwall salvage their season in the last two minutes?
1449: Paul Robinson comes on for Andy Frampton for Millwall. We've got four minutes of injury time. Nerves?
1448: There is a minute of normal time left and stoppages, and that's how long Millwall have to score.
1446: Great chance for Millwall - Neil Harris beats the offside trap and is played through - his side-footed effort is heading towards the far corner, but Joe Murphy fingertips it behind.
1445: GOAL It's another shocking bit of keeping, but Scunny won't care. Martyn Woolford gets the goal his brilliant display deserves, slamming in under the body of David Forde after pinball in the Millwall box.
Millwall 2-3 Scunthorpe
1444: There are five minutes left at Wembley, is there a very, very late winner in the offing here?
From Mondraker275 on 606: "Do Millwall have any hope, when Stevo has predicted 3-2 to Scunthorpe? Please don't predict the Prem scores, you'll ruin the tension." Join the debate on 606
1441: Some early chat from the Premier League, Hull fans: Tigers chairman Paul Duffen on BBC Radio Humberside has said Kamil Zayatte, Daniel Cousin and Bernard Mendy will be on the bench today. Kevin Kilbane will start at centre-back, with Dean Marney in midfield and Craig Fagan and Nicky Barmby up front.
1439: Gary Hooper comes off for Scunthorpe, so he won't be adding to his 30 goals this season. Jonathan Forte, who is quick, has pace and can run fast, is his replacement.
BBC Sport's Phil McNulty at Villa Park: "Villa Park is deserted as we wait for the gates to open - but the Newcastle fans are already making themselves heard outside in the sunshine. Newcastle are putting 16 years of top-flight status on the line here and their supporters are in the mood to make their contribution towards the survival fight."
1436: Goal of the season, miss of the season. It gets worse every time you see it. If Millwall lose, Gary Alexander will be inconsolable.
1435: From hero to villain - that miss is quite unbelievable. A magnificent cross is played in from the Millwall right by Chris Hackett and it's on Gary Alexander's head, he's six yards out, he cannot miss - until he directs it a couple of inches wide. How? I mean, how?
BBC Sport's Paul Fletcher at Wembley: "Scunthorpe did not really look like equalising but finally got in behind Millwall and took their chance. Iron manager Nigel Adkins was starting to look very concerned as he prowled his technical area. Lions boss Kenny Jackett is in the midst of a hands on head moment. Extra-time is just what every player wants on such a sweltering day - honest! Plenty of fans have gone for the shirts off approach. Not great."
1432: There are 17 minutes plus stoppages left at Wembley. I reckon Scunny must just have edged ahead as favourites now.
1429: GOAL We're back on level terms - and it's that man Martyn Woolford who has done the business for Scunny again. He races down the left, skips past his marker and crosses to the penalty spot, where Matt Sparrow keeps his cool brilliantly, feigning past the keeper and slotting into the roof of the net. Extra-time beckons.
Millwall 2-2 Scunthorpe
From anon, via text on 81111:" Villa have fifth place to contend for and an extra £800,000 prize money. Not a bad reward for beating Newcastle."
1424: Andy Crosby, 36, gets in a wonderful block to deny Gary Alexander a clear sight of goal after another fabulous bit of control from the on-fire striker.
1423: Scunthorpe's Liam Trotter fires goalwards from a corner and David Forde makes a fine save, with Andy Frampton getting up well to head the rebound over and to safety. Millwall have brought on Chris Hackett for Lewis Grabban.
From Tanser_Man (a Villa fan) on 606: "Best of luck today barcodes, I'm not going to be drawn into the big will-they-won't-they tosh but let's hope for a great game of football. Martin Laursen is doing a speech at 3.50... that should set the occasion on fire." Join the debate on 606
1419: These Millwall boys, they like a long-ranger for sure. Zak Whitbread intercepts a Scunthorpe pass 40 yards out and hits a sweet 35-yard half-volley that ends up a couple of yards over. How many wonder goals do they want?
1417: Millwall are in the ascendancy right now and Gary Alexander gets his head to a corner, but it flies off the top and sails wide. Another goal for them might just kill the Iron off.
1414: Scunthorpe bring on Liam Trotter for Sam Togwell in their first change.
1413: Gary Alexander is livid with Lewis Grabban, who runs 40 yards before driving a tame shot wide. Alexander, who is on a hat-trick, was in a great position. Incidentally, should Alexander score with his left foot, it'd be the 'perfect hat-trick'.
1411: The start of the second half has been at a slightly lower tempo than most of the first. Maybe they're saving themselves for extra-time...
BBC Sport's Paul Fletcher at Wembley: "Chop, chop Millwall fans - the second half has started you know. Club Wembley ticket holders reach their seats quicker."
1407: By the way there was a change at the break, with Millwall taking off Nadjim Abdou and Marc Laird coming on for Kenny Jackett's side.
1406: Remember, Millwall were relegated from the Championship three years ago and Scunthorpe suffered the same fate last season. They are desperate to get back.
1404: After that breathless 45 minutes, we're back under way at Wembley. Part of me hopes it never ends.
From collie21 on 606: "How come no-one has said anything about the team Villa might put out? It's not as if they have anything to play for either? Villa might field their reserves and Newcastle could win, would Hull sue them?" Join the debate on 606
From Tom, London, via text on 81111: "Can we have these two teams in the Premier League? They are much better than the dross currently at the bottom."
1355: Here's Macca with some Player Rater chat. He's excited, too, bless him: "If we had a Goal Rater then I'd give Gary Alexander at least an 11 for that strike. We don't have a Goal Rater, but we do have a Player Rater. You can't give anyone an 11 - it just doesn't work like that - but you can give them lots of other numbers. Why not head over there and have a special little play-off play:" Rate the players
BBC Sport's Paul Fletcher at Wembley: "There has been a profound momentum shift inside Wembley. The smallish contingent of Iron fans have lost their voice. The extremely large number of Millwall fans have found form in a big way. Scunthorpe were the better team for most of the first half but Gary Alexander's double blast sees the Lions lead at the break. However, there is still all to play for in this final, which has been cracking so far. And when the heat kicks in and the legs start to tire I'm sure we'll see plenty more goalscoring opportunities."
1348: Half-time Millwall 2-1 Scunthorpe What a magnificent advert for third-tier football that was. It's like we've gone back to the days of the classic play-off finals, like your Sunderland-Charltons etc. More of the same, please - Millwall might be ahead, but this is anyone's.
1345: Scunthorpe's Martyn Woolford is proving almost unplayable today and he skips infield from the left again, but his 18-yard shot is straight at David Forde.
1344: My the Millwall fans are in full voice now. There's a tricky interval coming up for Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins, because his team haven't done a whole lot wrong so far.
1340: We've got five minutes left - and this is already right up there in the the best halves of football I've seen this season. It's had absolutely everything.
1338: GOAL That's how to turn a game around in three minutes. Millwall are all over Scunthorpe and David Martin's cross is headed goalwards by the man of the moment, Gary Alexander. Joe Murphy should save it, but it squeezes past his attempted grab. Unbelievable.
Millwall 2-1 Scunthorpe
1336: GOAL Have that Wembley, have that. We might have just seen the goal of the season, I'm not joking. Gary Alexander is on the left touchline, about 40 yards out when he chests down a throw and hits the most glorious volley that sails over Joe Murphy and into the far corner. It is a goal that would grace any level - and a goal not out of place in this magnificent game.
Millwall 1-1 Scunthorpe
BBC Sport's Paul Fletcher at Wembley: "Scunthorpe are playing with a confidence and self-belief that is allowing them to fully express themselves on this excellent relaid Wembley turf. They seem to have a few more keys to unlock the door, but for running and desire veteran Millwall striker Neil Harris is covering a lot of ground."
From Mike, Exeter, via text on 81111: "Cheer up Middlesbrough fans, this time last year you won 8-1. Do that again and who knows what might happen..."
1330: This is turning into a classic. Neil Harris does well down the Millwall right and his cross finds David Martin on the left-hand side of the box. His drilled ball is diverted on to his own post by Sam Togwell - Millwall are desperately unlucky not to have scored.
1329: My word Paul Hayes went close to making it 2-0 there. Gary Hooper finds Hayes cleverly in the box and his shot - which might have been going wide - is deflected over by Tony Craig. Telepathy - that's what the Iron strikers have got.
1328: Grant McCann swings over a cross-cum-shot from the Scunthorpe right and Martyn Woolford lunges in with Millwall keeper David Forde to try and claim the loose ball. Forde needs a bit of treatment, but it was 50-50, had to go for it.
1326: The pitchside thermometer has rocketed up to over 100 degrees at Wembley. Now I don't mean to keep going on about it, but my word that is hot. I feel the sun graphic's not quite doing it justice. But I'm gonna use it again anyway.
1323: Daniel Day-Lewis, one of the great actors of our time, is watching his beloved Millwall in action at Wembley today. Hello, celebrity graphic.
1321: Make no mistake, Millwall are far from out of this game. They are hammering on the door and could easily be level already. There's more goals in this one, that's for sure.
From Zippy, George and Bungle on 606: "It may not be life or death, relegation, but after seeing what's happened to Charlton, Southampton, Norwich and Leeds, the signs don't look good for anyone relegated this season." Join the debate on 606
1316: Matt Sparrow is booked for a late challenge on David Martin, following Sam Togwell, who went into the book earlier. Shortly after, Zak Whitbread's shot flies into the arms of Joe Murphy.
1314: Gary Hooper thinks he can score from anywhere. He surges into the box on the right-hand side and from an impossible angle, drills the ball against the base of David Forde's left-hand upright. It could have sneaked in, you know.
From Nadz, Kenley, via text on 81111: "Stevo, I had a dream the other night in which Villa beat Newcastle 6-1 and the Boro-West Ham game ended 4-4, reckon I should put £50 on that one?"
BBC Sport's Paul Fletcher at Wembley: "An early goal to open up the match. Lovely. Cracking bit of football as well with Gary Hooper's neat backheel particularly impressive. Scunthorpe fans celebrate by chanting 'You're not singing anymore.' It does not go down well."
1308: There are many, many more Millwall fans inside Wembley than Scunthorpe, but plenty have been silenced - for the moment, at least.
1306: GOAL Early jubilation for the Iron, as they go in front. A long ball forward is not defended well by Millwall and after Martyn Woolford's shot is saved by David Forde, Matt Sparrow is on hand to lash into the roof of the net.
Millwall 0-1 Scunthorpe
1305: Half-chance for Millwall's Lewis Grabban, who heads into the arms of Joe Murphy after Neil Harris' cross is deflected up into the air.
1304: First sign of a link-up between Gary Hooper and Paul Hayes, Scunny's prolific strikers who have bagged 50 goals between them this season. They're like the Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o of League One.
From CLS-SAFC on 606: "I'm sick of people acting as though relegation is the 'end of the world,' and a matter of life or death. As a Sunderland fan I've been through more than my fair share and trust me, the Championship isn't so bad. You win most matches, are on the telly all the time, and the opposition fans are always genuine, honest football fans, no plastic glory hunters there." Join the debate on 606
1300: Scunthorpe and Millwall are playing. In the League One play-off final. At Wembley. Let's go.
1258: Some dude belts out the national anthem and we are a matter of moments away from getting started at Wembley. It's sun graphic time again - it's bloomin scorchio.
1254: The teams are out at a glorious Wembley Stadium - are there many better sights in sport? One change for Millwall, with James Henry back at Reading after the end of his loan spell and he is replaced by Lewis Grabban. Scunthorpe make two changes from their last outing, with Sam Togwell and fit-again Gary Hooper replacing Liam Trotter and Garry Thompson.
1252: Both managers seem confident as they do their pre-match thing to the television cameras. "Seize the day," is Nigel Adkins' advice to his Scunthorpe players. "Concentrate on your own performance," says Kenny Jackett to the Millwall boys.
From Ben in Norway, via text on 81111: "On a boat, in a fjord, fishing for cod, 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle and a million miles away from Wembley. But following on the live text and cheering on the Scunny. Iron, Iron, Iron!"
1247: Still waiting on teams from Wembley - how rubbish is that? I'm hoping they are a matter of seconds away...
BBC Sport's Paul Fletcher at Wembley: "Wembley starting to fill up, well, sort of. It could be an afternoon for earplugs when Millwall's near wordless anthem (if such a thing is possible) starts bouncing around the ground. Mmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeee.............. Scunthorpe supporters are vastly, vastly outnumbered. A couple of players to keep an eye on - Nadjim Abdou in the centre of midfield for Millwall. A very lively player who connects up a lot of his team's play, and Scunthorpe's Grant McCann. He has a peach of a left foot, worthy of a higher level."
1241: Millwall and Scunthorpe have, of course, met twice before this season, with the Iron winning both games. But boss Nigel Adkins still makes the Lions favourites: "We're the underdogs, clearly." No such thing in a play-off final, Nigel. No way.
1237: Fancy yourself as a Nostradamus for the modern day? Then why not have a go at forecasting the final day's results in the Premier League and seeing how the table might stand, with our Predictor? Play BBC Sport's Predictor
From Matt_Utd_FC on 606: "I'm excited already about today and I'm not even a fan of the 'Big Four' (today that means Boro, Newcastle, Hull and Sunderland). I'm sure there will be twists and turns, but I still think the table will be the same come 6pm. Can't see Newcastle getting anything from Villa." Join the debate on 606
1230: Stevo's League One Predo, with the Prem ones to come a little bit later so don't you worry: Millwall 2-3 Scunthorpe
BBC Sport's Paul Fletcher at Wembley: "Let's start with the weather - it is hot, hot, hot at Wembley and, having taken a walk around the stadium, I haven't see too much evidence of suntan cream, although there were plenty of tinnies. There could be some very sore, red heads on Monday. I was struck by the bizarre sight as I walked to the ground a few hours ago of plenty of people having BBQs in various car parks. I know they are talking about playing the Superbowl here one day but I don't think Americans use disposable ones from the supermarket." Read Fletch's blog on Gillingham's play-off win on Saturday
