Leaders Peel keep nine-point lead

Football

Peel remain nine points clear at the top of the Sure Mobile Premier League after beating Ramsey 2-0 at Ballacloan.

Kerron Christian scored in each half for the pacesetters and Kelvin Dawson marked his 500th game for the Westerners with another clean sheet.

Elsewhere on Saturday, second place St George's thrashed Laxey 5-0 at Glencrutchery Road to stay in touch.

Callum Morrissey scored a well deserved hat-trick with Chris Melly and Neil Brogan also finding the net.

Rushen staged a late comeback at Croit Lowey to also stay in contention.

with 20 minutes remaining, newly-promoted Michael led 2-0 through goals from John Holland and Michael Perks and looked set for a memorable victory.

Rushen, however, had other ideas and three late goals from Chris Shimmin, Tom Craine and Aaron Hawley gave the Spaniards all three points.

Colby boosted their survival hopes with a 5-2 win at Union Mills.

The Millers had led through Richard Cannell and Sam Caine before Colby powered away.

Michael Baker, Martin Moore (two), Craig Gelling and Mark Barron sealed the win for the Glen Road side.
