Rotherham scraped through to the northern area final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy after a 4-2 penalty shoot-out victory against Darlington.
Steven Cann was the Millers' hero, saving two penalties before Michael Cummins scored the winning spot-kick.
Darlington skipper Steve Foster had given his side the lead from close range before Danny Harrison equalised in the second half.
Rotherham will play Scunthorpe in the two-legged northern final in January.
