Saints leave it late to get point

A last-minute equaliser from island midfielder Dominic Heaume saw St Martins snatch a point from a 2-2 draw at home to North on Wednesday night.

Saints took the lead in the second half through island captain Matt Warren.

North replied through Craig Young and Nigel Hutton and looked on course for the victory which would have them two points clear at the top of the league.

But Heaume popped up in the final minute to rescue a point for Colin Fallaize's side.

"It's a couple of points dropped," North coach Mick Le Prevost told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"We had quite a few opportunities in the first half which we didn't take. We could have had three or four goals in the first half.

"But it's all about putting that ball in the back of the net at the end of the day, and if you don't do that, you don't win games."

North are now second in Senior County League Division One on goal difference behind Belgrave Wanderers.

Saints are two points behind in fourth place.
