Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini covered over eight miles to win the Barclays Sport Relief Mile Challenge.

The French midfielder covered more miles than any other Premier League player over the Sport Relief weekend.

Barclays agreed to donate �30 for every mile that a Premier League player ran over the weekend of March 14-16.

Flamini's efforts helped swell the total donation from Barclays to an impressive �55,000 and push the Sport Relief total above �20.8m.

Professional match analysts Prozone and AMISCO monitored the combined mileage of all Barclays Premier League players in matches played between 15-17 March and calculated that players ran a total of 1454.3 miles (2340.5 km) over the 10 games.

Barclays will roundup its Sport Relief donation to a total of �55,000 - the exact figure raised by players was �43,629.

The Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile events on Sunday March 16 saw over 100,000 people take to the streets across the UK to run a Mile and raise money.

By the end of the Sport Relief weekend an impressive �20,747,375 had been raised and that figure should rise further when sponsorship money is paid.

All the money raised is spent by Comic Relief to help vulnerable people living incredibly tough lives both at home in the UK and in the world's poorest countries.
