Jersey 0-1 Reading Academy
Jersey v Reading at Springfield Stadium
Jersey had a number of shots on target
Jersey slipped to defeat against the Reading Academy side at Springfield despite a spirited performance.

The island side managed to limit the Academy's efforts on goal, with the youngsters creating nothing until the second half.

Jersey enjoyed the greater number of chances, and hit the woodwork through teenager Jack Boyle.

But the only goal came from Reading's Ashley Mitchell in the 61st minute when he rose above the home defence to net.

Jersey manager Dave Kennedy was pleased his team had competed to the best of their ability.

It was a really, really good game for us

Reading Academy manager Eamonn Dolan

Kennedy told BBC Radio Jersey: "Overall I was really delighted with the performance, we played some good football against a really good side. It's been a fantastic exercise for us."

Although he was disappointed the result didn't go their way he added: "Ideally we'd have liked to get a good result and certainly I felt like we were worthy of some sort of draw at least."

Reading Academy manager Eamonn Dolan was equally pleased with his side saying: "It's been fabulous. It was a really, really good game for us."

The crowd was disappointing, with barely more than 100 turning out at Springfield for a match that did lack a spark.
