Chris Smith looks set to stay at Worcester |
AFC Telford United assistant manager Larry Chambers admits their bid for Worcester City defender Chris Smith is unlikely to be successful. The Bucks want an agreement before the end of Friday if Worcester will allow the deal to go ahead.
Telford's initial bid of 1,500 for Smith was rejected by City for falling well short of their valuation.
"As we speak, I think it's doubtful that there'll be any developments in the short term," Chambers said.
"They still think they've got a chance of reaching the play-offs and until it's mathematically impossible, I think they want to keep their captain."
Chambers told BBC Radio Shropshire they have already made a decision to look elsewhere for defensive cover.
Defenders Richard Teesdale and Indy Khela are still out injured and Simon Forsdick missed training on Tuesday after aggravating an ankle injury in the 6-1 win against Leigh RMI.
Forsdick has been rated 50/50 for the Bucks home game against Hucknall Town.
