Stockport gave Carlisle a lesson in finishing to reach the northern area Johnstone's Paint Trophy semi-finals. Carlisle had looked the more likely side to score in the opening period before early in the second half Adam Proudlock hammered home a shot.
Danny Graham then hit the bar for Carlisle and against the run of play Matty McNeil headed in after a corner.
And Anthony Elding swept home Liam Dickinson's right-wing cross for Stockport's third goal.
