Brighton edged a win over Barnet to move into the southern area last eight of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Brighton took the lead through Jake Robinson and, despite defender Nicky Nicolau hooking the ball off the line, the referee's assistant gave the goal.
Dean Cox extended Brighton's lead when he hit the post with a shot before heading in the rebound.
Adam Birchall muscled in to bag from close range to pull one back for Barnet but it proved a consolation effort.
