Platini stated his opposition to instant video replay |
Uefa president Michel Platini says he is not against using Hawk-Eye-style technology to end disputes about the ball crossing the goal line. He said it could be a way forward, but he was "totally opposed" to the use of instant video replay.
"Football must remain human, but we must also try to limit mistakes," said the former French captain.
The International Football Associations Board, guardian of the laws of the game, would have to back any change.
At its last annual general meeting in March 2007, IFAB set down criteria for all future experiments involving goal-line technology.
Any proposed system would only be able to apply to goal-line technology, must be 100% accurate, instantaneous, and only communicable to the match officials.
