Rijkaard says there is no ill-feeling between himself and Mourinho |
Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard has insisted he has never had a problem with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho. The pair meet again in the Champions League on Tuesday, with previous meetings between the sides packed with controversy and accusations.
But Rijkaard told Five Live Breakfast: "I never had a bad feeling so there is nothing to be over. Mourinho is a great coach and I respect the way he works.
"Everyone has his own form and I never had any problems with Mourinho."
Chelsea travel to Barcelona for their Champions League Group A match, having defeated the Spanish club at Stamford Bridge on 18 October.
The result left Barca trailing Chelsea by five points in the table.
 | Mourinho has been very successful -I can only have respect for that |
Rijkaard admitted: "We need the points, definitely. I have learned nothing from the game at Chelsea - only that we lost and we didn't play well.
"We have already played several times against Chelsea and we know how they play.
"They are not as quick as they were in the counter-attack two years ago.
They have some players with a lot of talent. Chelsea are playing in a different way, with Michael Ballack closer to the opponent's goal. He has freedom and Michael Essien and Frank Lampard can overlap him.
"The main thing is that when they don't have the ball they are very well-organised - they do not give away much space and it's difficult to do something against them."
And Rijkaard paid tribute to Mourinho's ability as a coach for the alterations to Chelsea's style.
He added: "Mourinho has done great work to change tactics but stay successful.
"Mourinho follows his personality - staying close to his own way - he chooses that and he has been very successful with it.
"I can only have respect for that."
