The Football League has secured a major new sponsorship deal for its Trophy competition. Johnstone's Paint have replaced LDV Vans as backers of the tournament after agreeing a three-year deal worth a seven-figure fee.
The Trophy competition, won this season by Swansea City, has been running for 23 years.
"This is excellent news and provides a real boost for League clubs," said League chairman Lord Mawhinney.
"All supporters want to see their club competing for silverware and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy gives clubs from Leagues One and Two a cup competition that realistically they can win."
Teams from Leagues One and Two have been joined in the competition by a number of Conference clubs in recent seasons.
According to a Football League spokesman, the competition structure for next season is still being considered.
