Ardiles had led the side to the Emperor Cup title in 2004 |
Former Tottenham and Newcastle manager Ossie Ardiles has been sacked as coach of J-League club Tokyo Verdy. The 52-year-old, who took over at the club in June 2003, led the team to the Emperor Cup title the following year.
But the team have endured a dire slump in form - they have conceded 23 goals in five games and are in the midst of a nine-game winless streak.
Ardiles has previous coaching experience in Japan with Shimizu S-Pulse and Yokohama F-Marinos.
