Warnock doubts dual role
Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock
Warnock knows the size of a manager's workload
Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock says Mark Hughes would find it "almost impossible" to combine the Blackburn and Wales coaching jobs.

Hughes has been appointed Blackburn boss but is likely to mastermind Wales' next two World Cup qualifiers.

Warnock told BBC Sport: "I would doubt very much if you could do two jobs at that level.

"There's so much to be done managing a club at any level, let alone in the Premiership."

He added: "A manager's work load is about 80 hours a week and it's just not possible to combine two roles, no matter how good your staff is.

"You need your rest and sleep, and you also need to be able to switch off from football at times.

If Blackburn insisted he gave up the Wales job immedatiely I think he mght even stay put
Sheff Utd boss Neil Warnock

"If the only time he's switching off from Blackburn is to go to Wales, he's hardly getting away from football."

Hughes looks certain to land the Blackburn job as the FAW confirmed it had received an approach from Rovers.

Hughes' agent Dennis Roach will try to negotiate a compromise whereby Blackburn will allow him to bow out with Wales' last two qualifying matches against England and Poland this year.

Warnock said: "Some soul-searching will have to be done on all sides.

"I would think Blackburn would want him to give his full attention to the job.

"But if they feel he's the right man for the job, I'm sure they will understand his position.

"There's no way he would want to leave Wales in the lurch and be remembered as the man who walked out on them.

"If Blackburn insisted he gave up the Wales job immediately I think he might even stay put, but I'm sure they will be prepared to compromise."
