Sturrock is determined to bounce back |
Former Southampton boss Paul Sturrock is confident he can bounce back as manager of a Premiership club. Sturrock was the first managerial victim of the season just two games into the new campaign.
But he said: "I'm very confident I can manage in the Premiership, and I would like to get back into the game as quickly as possible.
"Whether you go straight back into the Premiership or whether you take a team into it doesn't really matter."
Sturrock was in charge for 13 games at Southampton, 11 last season, before his reign at St Mary's was ended by mutual consent.
His former club Plymouth are riding high in their first season in the Championshp under Bobby Williamson, who is enjoying the fruits of Sturrock's legacy.
Sturrock would be prepared to take a step back in order to rekindle his top-flight managerial ambitions.
Former Scotland international Sturrock added: "I think the appropriate thing is to get my hands dirty again and get back into management.
"I love being manager of a football club, I like the challenge of organising a football club.
"It doesn't matter to me what standard it is, whether I go straight back into the Premiership or whether I take a team into it doesn't really matter."
