Fifa agrees to changes
Fifa chief Sepp Blatter
Blatter was first elected in 1998
Fifa has given unanimous approval to a ruling that will allow young players with dual nationality to switch countries.

An extraordinary Fifa Congress also extended president Sepp Blatter's term in office by another year to 2007.

The two-day meeting in Qatar was attended by all 204 member associations of Fifa for the first time.

They approved young players who have played for one country to change to another provided they did not appear in a full senior international match and they held dual nationality.

The extension of Blatter's period in office was approved to ensure Fifa presidential elections will not take place in the same year as World Cup finals.

The build-up to the World Cup in Japan and Korea last year was marred by an acrimonious presidential race.

Blatter was first elected Fifa president in 1998 and was re-elected four years later.

He is the eighth president in the history of the organisation, which celebrates its centennial next year.
