Smith guided Wrexham to promotion |
Millwall's Mark McGhee, Peterborough's Barry Fry and Wrexham's Denis Smith have been named as April's Managers of the Month. The Conference award has been shared by Yeovil boss Gary Johnson and Morecambe manager Jim Harvey.
McGhee has scooped the Division One award after the Lions won four of their six games.
The season has not gone as well as Millwall had hoped but a solid April has ensured that the club end the campaign on a positive note.
Fry's Posh went through April unbeaten in Division Two, winning four and drawing two of their six fixtures, but they too are going to fall short of the play-offs.
Wrexham secured automatic promotion to Division Two after an April in which they won six of their eight fixtures. With promotion in their grasp the Dragons registered a 6-1 win over Carlisle and a 5-0 victory against Cambridge.
Smith was pleased with the manner in which he had secured the award.
"I've won a few of these over the years, but to do it this month when we were in need of the results for promotion is excellent," he said.
"We used to get whisky a few years back but now it's bubbly!"
