Gill's Grimsby test
Oldham Athletic midfielder Wayne Gill has joined Grimsby Town on trial with a view to a possible move to Blundell Park.

Gill joined the Latics from Tranmere Rovers for 70,000 in October, 2001 but has started just three games for the club following an injury-hit spell.

The 27-year-old former Blackburn Rovers player was transfer-listed last September as Oldham boss Iain Dowie looked to trim his squad.

Gill is one of several potential new faces at Grimsby as player-manager Paul Groves looks to strengthen his squad.

Norwich City full-back Danny Self and Middlesbrough defender Andy Kelly are among those looking to impress.
